Pikant Catering

While the food was alright, my experience was tainted by Chef Renshaw.I was a guest at an event he catered at. He saw the amount meat I had on my plate and commented on how much food I had. I jokingly said I am bulking to gain muscle, to which he responded “have you been bulking for five years now?”This comment was really offensive to me as someone who has been on a wellness journey for the past year. I do not find it appropriate for a chef to comment on a guests body.Additionally, I had requested a takeaways I needed to leave the event early. I entered the catering room and requested a takeaway which one of the other staff members were kindly assisting me with.The dessert was about to be served, so I asked if I could grab dessert since I had to leave before the dessert came out.This did not seem to be an issue and the catering staff kindly accommodated me to pack my takeaway quickly.Suddenly, Chef Renshaw started shouting that I needed to get out of the catering area and wait to be served outside, shouting across the room “you need to leave, leave now!”I said I would leave, and that I was just wrapping up. I then addressed that I felt he spoke to me disrespectfully.He did not seem to understand my perspective, because from his perspective, he is the Chef and I was not allowing him to do his job and was interfering with his work.From my perspective, I had requested a takeaway which the staff were kindly assisting me with. I do not think that asking for a takeaway is a big ask. I would think that it is a service he is willing to happily provide as a caterer.I believe that he could have dealt with the situation in a more professional manner and could have quietly approached me and offered to assist me in packing a takeaway, instead of letting me pack my takeaway myself in a manner that he was not comfortable with.I appear young and am short, which often gives people the impression that they can treat me like a child.Irrespective of my appearance, I would expect that a service provider who prides themself in delivering excellent food associates that with treating guests respectfully.I cannot process how someone who is providing a service can scold a guest. There is a way to address an issue, and I do not believe he went about it the right way. I found his response to be unprofessional, and for this reason I would not recommend his services.
