My 19 yr old daughter made an appointment to see Dr Naude as her medical aid required her to be referred by a GP in their limited network in order to see a specialist. After arrival at the surgery, my daughter waited for an hour after her scheduled appointment before querying with the receptionist, who was rude and told my daughter to be patient. After 15 mins, she was called into the doctor’s room. She then sat for another 15 minutes waiting for Dr Naude. His conversation with my daughter made her feel uncomfortable. She was told it would take up to 48 hours for the referral letter. Two days later, when no referral letter had been received, my wife called the surgery and was put through to Dr Naude. His response upset my wife, “I see patients, I don’t do paperwork” after which he hung up. 5 days later we are yet to receive the referral letter.Completely unprofessional, rude and evidently incompetent.** Response to owner's response:It appears that you do not comply with your own protocols. Upon phoning your surgery, my wife was put through to you after merely asking the receptionist for an update on the status of the referral letter. At no point did my wife ask to be put through to you or was she informed or asked by YOUR receptionist, if she wanted to speak to you. Therefore, YOU accepted a call whilst in a consultation with another patient. Breach of your points 1 and 3.Point 2 is irrelevant. My daughter came to see you to request a referral letter. My wife phoned your surgery two days later to ascertain the status of the request.I agree fully with your 4th point. Your receptionist only informed my daughter that there was an emergency after she had been there for 50 minutes, initially she said you were running late. My daughter was with by her Gran who confirms this.Your comment regarding my wife and daughter speaking to each other about the delay is irrelevant, particularly in light of the aforementioned. 2 days later my wife phoned your surgery - not the same day as my daughter visited you, as implied in your response. Whilst you apologise for the manner in which you spoke to my wife, you breached your own protocols, as did your receptionist by putting my wife's call through to you.You are correct - my daughter merely wanted a referral not an opinion. You state that you submitted the referral request on the 12th, however, it now transpires that you are not even registered to do such referrals with our medical aid as you have not applied to renew - inept? Subsequently, 14 days after my daughter's visit to your surgery, no referral received. You are correct that I arrived at the practice on the 14th. I was there to request a copy of the referral letter. The receptionist went into your room whilst you were with patients and informed me as such. I stood at the reception counter. When the patients exited your room, the receptionist returned to your room, then returned to inform me that I cannot have a copy of the referral letter. I again queried this and she returned to your room. I again queried her response and stated to her, surely it is easier if I spoke to you rather than via the receptionist and so I followed her to your door with the intention of speaking to you. As she entered your room, I stood at the door and spoke to you. I requested a copy of the referral letter and you responded by stating that a copy is unavailable as it is completed on the medical aid ihealth" portal. I accepted your response and exited.I am astounded that someone with your supposed status as a medical professional can lie regarding my actions. I neither barged into your room nor shoved your receptionist. Neither of you were wearing masks so I stayed 1.5m away.We are making every effort to obtain the referral letter which evidently you are not able to provide and should never have seen my daughter. We regret having encountered you and would advise others to rather use other options. Your practice is unprofessional and as evidenced
