A Log Home at Buffalo Creek

Sometimes all one wants is a place to go to get off the grid, to gaze onto majestic mountains, have nature all around including a large dam for some cloud-filled sky reflection time, and be able to braai to one’s heart’s content. A Log Home is one such place!Geared for nature lovers, this rustic cabin is anything but under-equipped! Everything has been thought out by the friendly owners. Although this gem is self-catering, it’s very clean and well-looked after. With everything you need in the kitchen, a spacious, comfortable living area and a pocket-rocket fireplace inside, one almost doesn’t want to step outside – and perhaps for winter this is ideal! There is a TV, however one wouldn’t want to use it anyways. Not with incredible views outside, a crackling fire and some great company, or wine. Sometimes the latter is all the company one needs hehe ;)Being able to watch both sunrise and sunset from the stoep (Afrikaans for veranda), is such a spoil. With 3 different places outside to braai at, including one under cover, one has so much choice, especially if there’s rain in the air. We found that our favourite was the fire pit out on the grass area - great for sitting around socializing, basking in nature’s glory or taking in the hundreds of stars at night!A Log Home would be great for families as well, perhaps two families as this sleeps 8 people in total with the 2 double rooms included. The bridge that joins the two upstairs twin rooms is one of the great features of the place. As is the “tree” that ascends up from the kitchen towards the roof!So, if you’re looking for a place that provides all of this; peace and quiet, an abundance of nature and activities (see the nearby Umshanti for more) or somewhere to just get away from the digital world (there is very little reception there), then A Log Home is the place for you!We can't wait to go back, and know that whomever is lucky enough to stay there, will love it, too!

The only part i could fault is us, for not staying a bit longer. From booking , hospitality, environment and experience A log Home should be on everyone's go to" list. We were greeted with the Patio fire already set up. the Log home is beautiful and very well looked after! all amenities are there. the indoor fire place kept us warm all night. We cant wait to experience this beautiful home in Summer time and would like to thank Kathryn for being a 5 star host! until next time!"

Absolutely exquisite! An idyllic piece of heavenly splendour in the heart of the Overberg; a perfect get-outta-the city restful escape, whether for alone, or family-time. There is nothing minimalistic about this well-furnished, well-stocked, self-catering gem! It's clean, comfortable and homely, with fabulous nature walks and water-sports close-by; pool for summer respite, and logfires for winter warmth and coziness. With breathtaking solitude and magical dawn, dusk and night skies, A Log Home, has me craving to return!

Absolutely incredible. The house is large and comfortable and very well stocked with everything you could possibly need. The splash pool out front offered a welcome respite from the South-African summer heat and the view over the mountains are just gorgeous.

Beautiful house! Has everything you need. We took our dogs, but the no fence was a problem. The neighbors' dogs came out and nearly killed our puppy. She does warn you that there aren't any fences, but it will make a big difference.

A little peace of rustic heaven. Self catering at it's best. Everything was well thought about. You can just pack your clothes and go. Loved the special gestures from the host. The view from the patio still ingrained. Will definitely be back.

What a beautiful place!! 'The log home' is a holiday maker's dream as it has everything you would need - ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. The home is spacious, yet comfortable and homely. Compliments to the owners for the detail that makes the house unique - imagine a tree stretching from the kitchen to the upstairs sleeping area OR the 'bridge' that connects the 2 upstairs sleeping areas!! A bonus is the view - stunning!!

A quiet, beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. The host has tought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible.Will definitely recommend the Log Home to anyone looking for a getaway from the stressful environment of the city.
