Apex Shark Expeditions - Great White Shark Cage Diving Cape Town

Nice, friendly, knowledgable staff who laid on some nice snacks. Took around 30mins to get to dive site and sharks turned up immediately. Wow what an experience, 20 mins in the cage, 10 foot bronze whaler sharks, apparently 15 on them.

Great morning out of Simon’s town swimming with the Bronze Whaler sharks. The three of us has close to 40mins in the water with around 6-7 sharks at times. Even banged up against the cage! Apex crew and captain were informative and friendly - even turned around to retrieve a cap which flew off from one of the passengers. Also saw lots of dolphins and seals hunting in pods, and circled around Lion Island where there were 80k smelly and noisy Cape Furl Seals including lots of pups. We also got very lucky with the weather and water clarity. Highlight of our trip so far! Thank you!!!

Oh wow! It was an amazing experience, unique in my life!If you have the opportunity and curiosity to have that close relation with a shark, Apex is the right choise, no doubts!They were very professional and they took care of the participants in every moment!I really felt safe with them!5 stars!

This was amazing! The staff was really helpful and gave clear instructions what to do. From the moment we arrived to the spot we were supposed to see sharks we saw quite some Bronze Whaler Sharks. We also spotted one Sevengill. We spent almost 30 minutes in the cage while the staff was telling us where to look. I would highly recommend this to anyone who's interested in sharks. Apex is the best and most personable shark diving company in the Cape Town area. I did a lot of research prior to my trip to South Africa and was convinced I would dive with the top rated company out of Gansbaai (I won’t mention the company name). I’m sure they are a good outfit too, however it is a much less personable experience with upwards of 35 clients per trip. When I called, they could not give me an estimated amount of time in the cage. Additionally, the great whites have essentially left Gansbaai due to many reasons including the orcas, so don’t let anyone convince you that you will be seeing great whites. It can happen (and Gansbaai has a slightly higher chance), but it’s very unlikely in recent years. With that said, Apex gave us the ultimate experience. The bronze whaler sharks were >10 feet and we saw upwards of 15! Apex limits the number of clients per boat so you have more time in the cage, if you’d like. I stayed in the entire time and it was the perfect amount. I also thought I would be inhibited without a snorkel or gas, but it’s not so bad to go in and out of the water plus you get instructions from the staff on deck. Our crew including Capt Ryan was very professional, efficient, and eager to provide education. They do everything possible and respectful of the environment to make sure you have a great experience. The wet suits were high quality (each person gets their own) and I was not cold in the water. It’s about a 30 minute ride to the dive site and we had the fortune of a feeding pod of dolphins and a Bryde’s whale spotting along the way, though this isn’t typical. I’m very happy I stayed closer in Simon’s Town instead of the full day trip to Gansbaai and for choosing Apex. You’ll have an epic day and small group experience with the best staff in Cape Town area.

Had a great experience with Apex. Super professional and well organized. Didn’t feel overcrowded or rushed whatsoever. We saw about 15 sharks. Also my driver Erfaan was amazing - such a great person!!

Very good tour. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable about the sharks. We had Ryan, Nina and Landa and they were all great. We saw multiple Hammerhead sharks and Bronze Whalers as well as an Ocean Sunfish and thousands of seals. Visibility was poor when we were in the cage so most of our viewing was done from the boat but it was thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended. They also provided free snacks to keep us going

An unforgettable experience! The knowledgeable crew provided us with an amazing opportunity to view some seals, and 15+ copper sharks, from a mere inches away! I felt safe and comfortable the whole time, even when a couple of them were bumping right into the cage. You won't find great whites around these parts anymore, but these guys are huge - over 10 feet long (3+ meters) with plenty of sharp teeth!We also were able to see an astonishingly large pod of dolphins on our way out - the crew estimated as many as 1,500 of them, surfacing right by the boat, and as far as the eye could see. I'd highly recommend this experience, and take advantage of their pick-up/drop-off service for a small add-on. It's super convenient!

Bucket list honeymoon experience. We did the dive with the Penguins and Cape of Good Hope Tour. I did some research on different diving spots and the top companies. Ultimately we went with Apex because they seem to be the best marketers and therefore cater to foreigners with transportation and tour experiences. We went with False Bay because it was closer to Cape Town. We wanted the cage dive experience, but weren’t really willing to do the long drive to Gansbaai for the chance of maybe seeing some Great Whites.The tour itself ran without a hitch. We did get delayed a day due to bad weather, but I had made room in our schedule for that possibility. We were picked up at our hotel on time. Very professional crew working hard to get you some sharks. Each group saw about 5-8 sharks while they were in the cage. I was afraid of being cold and packed a ton of sweatshirts but we had a warm day and it was actually a relief to get into the water. I wasn’t expecting seasickness but it did hit me, so if you’re worried about it take some Dramamine.The rest of the day was splendid and the Cape of Good Hope is 100% worth visiting. I was expecting a tourist trap for Instagram pictures, and I was pleasantly surprised that it’s a decently large nature preserve. We saw some wildlife and had a very attentive driver who wanted to give us some history of the country.Tacking on the tour to the Cape of Good Hope through Apex was certainly more expensive than other options, but we were in the area for a limited amount of time and found the experience to be worth it because we had a safe private tour and it was very convenient. This trip required a lot of planning so it was nice to have Apex to take some of that load off.

Great experience! Apex is definitely the group to go with - super professional, courteous, helpful, knowledgable. We debated doing False Bay or Gansbaai in search of great whites. Unfortunately sightings across S Africa seem to be fewer and fewer these days. We did False Bay and saw bronze whalers. It was an incredible experience. Big sharks, get within inches of you, all around incredible.
