Mbotyi River Lodge

A place to visit, put this on your to do list. We had the most amazing experience at Mbotyi. To get there and back was tough but worthwhile. Thanks to the manager Tim and his team for an unbelievable experience.

The scenery of the place Is quite refreshing , but when I got into my room there was no hot water , and I had to bath with icy cold water !!! And the plugs weren't working, so I couldn't even plug in the kettle to atleast use water from the kettle to bath!! Went into the reception, there was no one ,but they're hosting people who have paid to be there!! Im so disappointed at their service!!!

Wow! Wonderful hospitality. Food was good and the views the best! Gardens very neat and clean also. Manager hands on. This is the perfect getaway to just to come and rest and enjoy the beach.

Overall the Mbotyi river lodge is a magical place! The main building has an amazing view of the river and the sea. Tasty dinner and breakfast buffet. Perfectly located since the area has several beautiful waterfalls, cliffs, and beaches. We hiked to Waterfall Bluff and Cathedral Rock, two amazing places that were accessible through a pad. The staff was super friendly and helpful, they gave us great recommendations of things to see and do in the area (like the hike to waterfall bluff). Wish we could've spent more time here and would recommend it to others!!

What a spot! The position is really what makes this place so special. Central to exceptional coastal day walks in both directions. The epitome of rural, rugged Transkei.Good fishing, hiking, photographic opportunities. Good, balanced meals at restaurant &well-stocked bar. Comfortable, pleasant, basic amenities, perfect for rural, classic Transkei.
