Wendy’s Country Lodge & Zululand Adventures

From the time of our arrival we were greeted with the most welcoming smiles from Louwrina and Jenny which made us super comfortable. The setting is tranquil and we knew we were in for a fantastic time. The rooms were comfortable, clean and fresh which is extremely important these days. The food, breakfast and supper was great and we enjoyed every bit of it. Special thanks to the kitchen staff, Anna, Phumelele, Thule, Rikka, Nomonde and Nomusa for their excellent hospitality....they are a great asset to the establishment....well done lovely ladies. The hosts Jenny and Gavin are such wonderful souls and their personal touch is certainly their signature trait. The game drive was the highlight...Gavin sees,hears,smells and feels the bush...his knowledge is unsurpassed and we learnt a lot about the Bush and its inhabitants. Last but not least is the most gorgeous garden courteousy of Jenny..Mam your handiwork is superb. Overall I would highly recommend Wendys for any time of the year. Great family run lodge with oodles of history throughout. Magnificent wood carvings and classic furniture not to mention the well appointed bedrooms.Secure, wonderful garden and then the food. Well that was exceptional. Great hosts! If you want to be close to Umfolosi, St. Lucia and Cape Vidal look no further than Wendy's Counyry Lodge.

We had such an amazing day with Gavin, who taught us everything about game drives and animals. We had the chance to see hippos, monkeys, buffalos, wild pigs, many birds, and antilops, then we went for a swim before lunch. At the end of the day, we had a drink and had nice talks with Gavin, who is so fun and so interesting.We went to meet his family for a coffee at their lodge the day after. The guest house is so well maintained and beautifully decorated with a very nice garden and authentic rooms. 100% recommand.

True 10 out of 10!Not exaggerating: This truly was the best accommodation of our whole holiday, in every perspective. Nice and spacy rooms with comfy beds, beautiful garden with outside pool, great common areas like living room and bar to meet with other people and fantastic dinner. But most importantly the hospitality of the owners, Jenny and Gavin, was absolutely amazing. They took us in like we were part of their family. They are taking very good care of their guests, preparing the perfect meals even taking into account any complicated allergies, sharing their stories and we had a lot of fun together. I would recommend Wendy’s country lodge to everybody coming to South Africa and this will be the first place I book when I’m visiting South Africa again. Wendy's country lodge is a special place where we felt like in family . Jenny and Gavin are full of attentions for their guests, from the breakfast to the evening coktails at their bar and exquisite dinners they share with us all.The rooms are very comfortable and finely decorated, and the tropical garden is a beautiful area.We spent two days of safari guided by Gavin who is as knowledgeable about wildlife as passionate to share it with his guests.So do not hesitate to profit by this unique opportunity to discover the region with him.We highly recommend Wendy's country lodge !Thanks very much Jenny and Gavin, we will be back !Anne and Stéphane

Jenny as host helped us out after a car crash also with organizing a spare car. The lodge has a wonderful garden and nice rooms. The whole lodge is decorated with antique things and very nice woodwork.

Very lovely place, very easy to navigate. Breakfast was super amazing. Well done to the breakfast team. Water takes abit longer to warm up in the shower though

A beautiful GEM in Riverview, beautiful gardens, super friendly staff. Rooms are immaculate with air conditioning the food is incredibly good! We highly recommend it!

Gavin and Jenny run a beautiful lodge in the legacy of his mom, with great personnel. Centrally located between iMfolozi-Hluhluwe park and St Lucia, great dinner and breakfast and above all the best hospitality I've experienced in South Africa, which was shown at best during the drinks they serve in their own bar before dinner, while meeting other guests.

Had a brilliant evening staying here as part of a work trip.The lodge is set in the most amazing tropical gardens with poolside bar area, lounge and dining building.The owners Gavin and Jenny were fantastic and we shared a great evening of conversation, food and drinks.Food was home-cooked and extremely tasty.Would love to come back given the chance and can fully recommend a stay here.
