We went on the Moepel Trail for the 2nd time. And it was again absolutely stunning. And: the markings had been refreshed since the last time and we didn't get lost. Thanks for that. We're going to come back.

Bateleur Nature Reserve is a beautiful place and it was very nice to have a lovely hike on a well marked trail. That's about all the good that I have to say about it.The bad:We were booked into a house in our own room next to a group of 15. We did not sleep one minute that night. The group partied and talked the entire night (great for them and that is fine). The owner should not have booked us in the same house as such a large group. When talking to the owner about this matter the response was That is how it is". Having this "I don't really care how your experience was" is completely unacceptable. It is an absolutely beautiful place but I would recommend going elsewhere because it is not worth the frustration."

The owner was rude to us on arrival due to we complained about the distance to get there and the directions he gave us.We told me we were not happy and he told us we can pay him his money and leave. We had booked for the weekend but only spent the night. The guest house was not clean and had that stuffy smell and the people in that area are racist. we were pulled over on gun point because they thought wethief's

A beautiful game experience. Came back to Stone cottage and 30 Impala were snoozing on the lawn on front of our chalet. They all got up and ambled away when we parked. Next morning a herd of gnu strolled by and we saw The three giraffes in the distance. Some woman complained about no entertainment...wah go to Sun City this is a Game Farm not an entertainment palace!!!! We were entertained 100% by the wildlife four and two footed and winged species. Wouter a great host and facilities just fine..chalet clean and well appointed. Bed comfy and hot water a-plenty in a bath with a picture window next to it. We will be back. Rob.

Nature reserve is stunning and we loved the hiking trials, open spaces and freedom to explore.Staff is friendly and helpful. We were unsatisfied with the accommodation; basic maintenance is not up to standard and it lacks the final touches to improve guests comfort for example a sponge to wash the dishes or toilet paper in the bathroom. It is our second time at Bateleur at the mountain villa and I am sorry to say but the house is exactly the same as a year ago; no improvements and/or maintenance was done. It is a great big house with a lot of potential and lovely for big families; but it definitely needs some TLC.

We stayed in the Stone cottage. Yes, no luxury but the peace, quiet and beauty is priceless. Cant remember when last we relaxed like this. The sunset hike and Kloof trail was great. Thank you, we will be back!

Very rustic place, nice and isolated. It did not have a stove but luckily we brought a skottle so we made a plan. We could not braai every night due to rain. There was no outside light for the evenings and we had a hive of bees join us which was not ideal.

I did the Stamvrug hiking trail. Took some time to gain entry and find someone to help. Bookings are essential for day hikers. The owner was very helpful and I thoroughly enjoyed the trail. Beautiful scenery.

What a wonderful place if you would like to escape the noise of the city. The nature reserve is absolutely beautiful as well as peaceful and also just to mention that it's very safe. The accommodation was comfortable and the hospitality is excellent considering the fact that we did a last minute booking. Thank you Wouter, we had a terrific weekend and you will definitely be seeing us again. Megan

What you can expect is peace and quiet and an expanse of Africa to explore on foot or on bike. I loved looking out on a vista and not seeing a trace of humanity all the way to the horizon.Don't expect luxury accommodation. We found things clean and functional but you could find it sort of a like a 1970s time capsule (the Mountain Villa accommodation at least) but this did nothing to dampen the thrill of hiking the wilds. In terms of mountain biking, the access roads around the reserve are gravel and you can put together a ride of 15km or so. There are stretches of deep sand so it can be a bit tough going. Cycling the hiking trails is not an option, these are hard enough on foot with some rocky scrambling.
