We had warm drinks and a pizza on the deck at Red Leaf Restaurant and the view was stunning. My husband enjoyed his flat white as it was strong however, the hot chocolate I had wasn’t very hot or very chocolatey. The pizza was delicious and came rather quickly but, the service overall wasn’t the best as, it was incredibly hard to get our waitress’ attention at any given time. It seems to be quite quiet during the week which is lovely if you want to relax in a peaceful environment. I have mixed feelings about Red Leaf but, I may return to Beyerskloof for a wine tasting in future.

Award wining wines and a must do on your tour through the Winelands. The tasting is well worth it and the wines are very enjoyable.Stunning wines at Beyerskloof which is truely the home of pinotage (the „Synergy“ and the „Traildust were our favorites) and beside that creates an amazing Cabernet Sauvignon („Eerste Ry Cab Sav from 2019 is worth a few bottles at home :-)) and also fantastic and fruity Chenin Blanc/Pinotage.We had a tasting of option 1 and 2 and lunch in the restaurant with a view over the lands into the maintains. We got to meet the winemaker - Anri Truter - which was definitely a special treat.

Absolutely great. An experience every lover of wine should do. Had the pleasure of having Beyers himself teach us about wine

Have been a few times just for wine tastings hence this review is referred only to their wines. The Restaurant at the premises looks catchy even though can’t say feel so inspired despite all the honeyish reviews showing meals. What can say, however, the location more welcoming inside (incl. the interiors) than it occurs to be outside, in particular when good weather allows the customers shall find harbor for wine tastings in a shabby poorly decorated courtyard.Secondly, staff is super kind, friendly and we had great chats felt bond with almost anyone at “the farm” being helpful, knowledgeable, hearty. So? What’s the pain point at Beyerskloof? Well, wine apparently.Their marketing appear to be waay stronger than their labels so far. Beyerskloof product range comes overrated and pricey when compared with other (good, great, stunning) labels in the area. The two assumptions match accordingly.Point is, Beyerskloof “The Home of Pinotage” find also in the retail trade sector (F&B) in London to name just one marketplace. When selling in largest supermarket chains aka Sainsbury’s a wine company can’t be considered a hidden gem anymore, neither a unicorn too. They claim since planting the first vineyards in Stellenbosch more than thirty years ago, they have become one of the leading red wine producers in South Africa with an unrivalled love for Pinotage. Pity Pinotage vineyard - as most of the greatest vines - has to be old to release its potential.30 years for a (red) vine is like 10 years for a kid pretending to be adult enough for driving a Ferrari. Sorry kiddo, can’t cope that horsepower and much more. Therefore, with all the love for their image / brand building, still, wines do not deliver the promise. The Pinotage is stoned, in particular the yearly vintage and the 75 cl. bottle. Please no. Go for the Magnum, 3 years minimum matured in bottle, kindly recommend. As part of their Reserve range. the Synergy Cape Blend can be more pleasant when well matured and food paired.Other than that, Traildust Cape Blend - bottle of R210 (€11) is a tribute to the legacy of Pinotage by uniting this cultivar with its heritage, Pinot noir and Cinsaut. The outcome is over-full filling mouth, papillae forced to filter tons of sweet fruit, cherries and plum notes and finishing. Although this wine is best served chilled (14°C) and combines with duck or game carpaccio, does not convince at all.Their upper lines, The Kriekbult Pinotage and the Cabernet Sauvignon promise a lot for ‘just’ R450-550 (€23-27) per bottle, even though to appreciate all this promise need waiting for 10 years development. Too much, seriously.Look, if only the Beyerskloof would lower down a bit their pretentious marketing it could be taken as simple as that, sometimes worthy and good for all-year’s meaty food pairings and sometimes a ‘lab’ test for cold late winter evenings ie. their Pinotage Rose. But no, they pretend to be something else. Regrettably for them, Stellenbosch offers waay more interesting farms into Pinotage and waaay older vines than Beyerskloof’s.

Years end lunch. Great restaurant, great service, good variety on the menu, good wines and a stunning view from the deck where we sat. Recommended for a meal although there is wine tasting as well.

A lovely venue and perfect for a valentines date. The staff were fast, efficient and friendly. The service was quick, and the food was really great. It was served hot and fresh. We were greeted with a free drink and garlic pizza. The price was fair. The only complaint I do have is that sitting on the outside"

Did wine tasting and received very good service. The room was warm and cozy and we got explanations on each wine we tasted. Our waiter/host was very friendly.

Had a delightful time at this estate on our quest for the perfect Pinotage. When we told the young man who organized our wine tasting that we thought we'd found our favourite at a previous farm he went all out to prove us wrong! Knowledgeable and charming he convinced us to leave there with a few bottles. We had lunch on the terrace overlooking the vineyard, the pizzas were excellent and service was too. A most pleasant visit.
