Elephant & Barrel
A great place to visit with friends. Lively atmosphere. Food and service was great. Food is very reasonably priced. Has a large bar and offers beer on tap and cocktails too. There is some seating inside and a lot of seating outside. The pub is situated in a small square that is reached through an alleyway. Very easy to mis the entrance.

Awesome place. The vibe is just incredible. They are generous with their food portions and the food tastes amazing. They play dance music (kygo etc) which was awesome. Beer garden outdoor vibe. Will definitely go back there!!!!!

It was a vibe. Went there on 25 November 2021 for a few drinks and the staff was friendly and helpful. We went there at night, just before 10pm and they closed till late. I would definitely recommend this place if you are in Franschhoek.

The manager (tall lady) is the most horrible woman we have ever met. After making us the most disgusting cocktails, we sent them back and ordered something else on the menu. At the end of our time, we received the bill with our cocktails that we sent back, still on the cheque. We pointed this out to management and she started barking at my lady that was with me that she made the drinks, we drank them so we have to pay. We did not drink her cocktails. We had a sip and it was disgusting - so it was sent back.Sweetest waiter that didn’t receive the heat of the manager being a terrible standard of customer service, still received her due tip.We are not horrible people in the slightest, however we both walked away feeling very unsettled - One word of advice to the owners, it doesn’t matter how well you know your manager - fire her.She is terrible and thinks she is the best thing since sliced bread.

Vibe was cool. Service was great (on URC final night) - so mostly all good. BUT what you guys call Poppers - which I can only describe as flat mush flattened by someone’s feet - is really not Poppers. Rather remove it from menu or learn to make it properly.

You are spoiled for choice when it comes to restaurants in Franschhoek, but if you are looking for the local village pub" experience then look no further than the Elephant & Barrel. Tucked away in a small courtyard just off the main road is the pub as well as a range of different shops and art galleries. The pub isn't very big

A great pub. The only thing was a noisy table near the bar, shouting loudly.

Steer clear of this place. Terrible establishment who have no sense of community. They also have zero respect when it comes to the public and those around them. They blare their music till all hours of the morning when they are surrounded by guest houses and residences. They just don’t care about people. We are working on a court application to have their liquor and noise license revoked and currently gathering evidence for the trial. Anyone residents in the area please do the same.

The Elephant & Barrel is always a great night out. Great atmosphere great Pub Food and a lot to drink. A big cocktail menu, wine list, beers etc. They make some of the best Fish and Chips on the planet and their specials are always great. Love it, a hidden gem, in the fabulous Franschoek.
