Ok So we went there as campers, camping for the Easter weekend 2023. The dirt road leading to the resort is +- 1.5km and is not in a very good condition so drive with caution. I need to start by saying that the resort has soooo much potential, however it is not being managed and maintained. The camp sites are beautiful and grassed some small some big, with electricity points(our plug point was worn and open to the elements), and a water tap near by. There are many stands on the waters edge which is great for fishing, however there is alot of boating activities near by which make catching fish difficult. Now the reason for my 2 star rating, the resort allows music to be played(although there is a big sign at the entrance saying no loud music) and the music playing is not controlled, the first night we were there the music went on very loud till past midnight(it had been playing loud for the whole day) and with every other stand playing their own music loud at the same time you can imagine what that was like. The second day we were there the loud music thankfully stopped at 10pm, however the 3rd night I had to go and ask the people to put it off at 10.15pm and what made it worse is that on the other side of the fence we had another inconsiderate person, that played his music with Karaoke till 2.10am. (Not the resorts fault but I'm sure they could have had a chat to their neighbour). In my opinion it is not necessary to play your music so loud that everyone can hear it, and they should have someone controlling the noise and unruliness! There was no security walking around the camp, but with that being said I did not feel unsafe. The onsite shop has the bare necessities like cold drinks, chips, sweets and some other basics.

Lovely relaxed atmosphere next to the dam. Chalets are well equipped, camping and caravan facilities were well used by other families. Indoor heated pool was a hit with the kids. Poolside cocktail bar with great festive vibe for the adults. Staff are friendly and willing to go the extra mile.

We have been twice. About 2 years ago we stayed in a chalet and then we recently went camping. Both times it was a last minute decision and both times we had no problems getting space at Steve's place because the office staff is helpful and friendly.I can't speak much for the chalets, as we did not make much use of the kitchens. We had what we needed and as mentioned it was 2 years ago so it may have changed.Camping was recent so my review will cover that. Each site has well kept grass, an electrical outlet and a lapa with a picnic table a braai and a bin. We were against the dam so fishing was easy. The further stands would need to stand between stands to fish. We also had a Jetty infront of our stand which is a bit of a bother because the boats that have launched go to the jetty to pick up or drop off people. As a result the boats kept going over our fishing lines and we constantly had hoards of people on our stand stepping over our rods and lounging infront of our braai. The toilets need some repairs and could be cleaned more regularly. The shop is stocked with basics and is very reasonably priced. We did not make much use of the cold water pools. The hot water pool is not really hot, it isn't even warm it is just slightly warmer than cold. The water is murky and the amounts of chlorine in the water is insane. It burns your eyes which is even more of a problem with the constant splashing. There should be lifeguards to enforce pool safety as the kids run around the pools and jump despite boards stating this is not allowed. I do believe the parents should also enforce the rules but as a safety measure, a lifeguard is always a good addition.Overall, our experience was pleasant.

The camp site itself was beautiful, the ablution blocks need some TLC and sanitary stations could be a bit more convenient however the abloution blocks are at least clean. All in all it was great experience.

I had the WORST experience at Steve's Place in Witbank. I wouldn't advise anyone to go there. My sisters and I booked there this past weekend on Friday the 5th of May 2023. Firstly we booked for a chalet but we were given an apartment, you have to use stairs to get to the apartment, stairs to the bedroom and stairs to use the toilet, You literally lose your sleep while climbing those stairs at night to use the toilet.I thought this was a weekend for me and my sisters to to de-stress and relax but to my surprise were actually working out my thighs are painful as I am typing this and that is caused the climbing of the stairs the whole weekend when all I wanted to do was rest. The next dat on the 6th of May 2023 we woke up to no electricity from 10:00am until 17:15, imagine going on a vacation and you spend the WHOLE DAY without bathing literally DIRTY the WHOLE DAY. They had no back generator, none whatsoever. our phone batteries died, we couldn't even take nice picture for memories or even make calls. when I asked the receptionist called Cathy ; she told us there was nothing they could do this is NOT them but Eskom. To top it off on 7th May 2023, we woke up at 08:00am and to our surprise again there was electricity when we called the receptionist Cathy trying to to ask her what was the way forward because there was no electricity and we are suppose to check out at 10:00am and we will not be able to check out without bathing what time will the electricity be back she replied and said to us she told us yesterday that she is not Eskom, she does not know what time the electricity will be back.what kind of pathetic service is this ?? I am VERY disappointed and I honestly wouldn't advise anyone to go there. it is a NIGHTMARE!!!!! I am still in disbelief and shock at the nonsensical service that we endured this weekend as if we were begging to sleep there while we paid!!

Lots of Self Catering accommodation, Camping sites have electricity and braai ares. Launch boats or Jet Ski's with ease and jetty's are awesome. Beautiful clean gardens, Events/Functions are done Professionally and efficiently. Kitchen Chef makes absolutely divine food especially her pizza's. Security brilliant! You can definitely go there with family.

Place is disgusting and not well kept at all. Was here 15 years ago and nothing has changed till today. The chalets kitchens, I won't even prepare my dogs meals in! The cupboards are a disgrace not to forget, it's self catering place, yet has almost nothing to use in the kitchen. The fridges are older than Moses and don't keep your food cold. The bathroom is a disgrace. Not to mention the bedding. Filthy!!!! And just the sight of the bedding makes you feel like you're itchy! The heated pool is the worst in the resort. 15 years ago it was considered nice, but now... The owner just pockets his profits instead of maintaining his resort. The gravel from the filter is at the bottom of the pool and the pool is in dire need of a makeover. The marbalite is peeling from all the walls. The hot pool still isn't working, so I'm sure they have no intention of fixing either. They play music till past 2 or till the last alcoholic goes to bed, not having any consideration for those who'd like to sleep early and it goes on every single night!!!!! The amount of day visitors they allow in, shows this is all about the owners profits, it becomes so overcrowded, you simply cannot enjoy any of the amenities whilst there's 200 people in one pool. They allow people with dogs to defacate all over the show, so the neat little green lawns you see on their photos, are certainly not the the case. You walk out your chalet and there's dog poop all over the show. Definitely not pleasant at all. There's just nothing good left of this place and it certainly won't see my family again!
