Boschendal Wine Estate
We had a picnic-for-two as four adults and one young teenager. There was plenty of food and a terrific selection including ciabatta, Camembert, fresh green salad, potato salad, chicken drumsticks, olives, hummus, and curried cauliflower. Wine is available by the glass or bottle at reasonable prices. Picnic blanket and zen chairs were provided. Sitting under the very tall pines on the lawn with a light breeze was divine.

We enjoy coming to the outdoor market that is hosted at Boschendal on Friday nights. Lots of different stands with food and live music. (Remember your picnic blanket, there are bean bags available)The farm, restaurant and gardens are really impressive. I tried the Brandy and chocolate tasting and can recommend it to someone wanting to taste something other than the norm.

OUTSTANDING!!! I don't have enough words to express just amazing this place is. My husband and I renewed our vows there last month and it far exceeded my expectations, which were high. The staff were professional, polite, courteous, so eager to assist. The accommodation (Orchard Cottages), were clean, homey, and very intimate. The views... well, to say breathtaking just doesn't cut it, and pictures don't do it justice - just go there, please!

One of my favourites wine estates. Child friendly and big space to relax and wine down. Went for picnic this time. Basket was just okay, not wow, not amazing. Dessert had strong chocolate taste. I guess just not for me. Toilets are a bit far from the picnic area and therefore long walk every few minutes especially when you drinking liquids. Grass is also not very well taken care of this time.Otherwise this is a beautiful place, I love it here and would recommend their picnic venue every time.

We decided to visit @boschendal @boschendalwines today. We had about 90 minutes and we managed to squeeze in a wine and MCC tasting as well as a visit to the deli.Siyonela presented the wines with great knowledge and could answer all of our questions. We really enjoyed most of the wines and MCC's and got some wine and a magnum to take home.Later that afternoon as we were leaving Franschoek we received a call from friends who happened to be in the area so we quickly stopped at the amazing deli on the wine estate and topped up on some meat and wine before heading off to them. There is so much to do on the estate you could literally spend an entire day there. Will definitely return soon for the horse riding (for the kids) and Friday market.

Wow! A fully working farm of 5000 acres that just happens to have multiple restaurants, the most wonderful shopping and market, picnic area where kids were playing with handmade lawn games from trees on the property - just get out! They use every piece of their resources. The only part of our picnic that wasn't from the property was the cheese. Our guide Blanche was so sweet and just shed her love of her job and this property through her entire being. They have a variety of cottages all over the vast land of varying sizes. You can hike, horseback ride, ride bikes, eat, play, drink great wine, tour the grounds, shops, museum - a few hours was not enough!

AMAZING wine farm. As SA’s, when we return home every three years, it’s always on our list to visit. I regret however to say we had one disappointment this Jan 2023 visit: our daughter loves fudge made the SA way, it’s harder than what we get in the UK; more like the Scottish Tablet. So when we spotted ‘fudge’ in your Shop, we bought a few packets to bring home. She was so thrilled until she took the first bite! Fudge is made with butter; sugar & condense milk. Since when do we add Cream of Tarter and CAKE FLOUR?!?! Sadly it all got binned! HUGELY disappointed child :( :(

We visited the beautiful Boschendal Wine Estate as the final stop on our Wine Tram tour (we were on the Orange line). After a short mini-bus ride from the Wine Tram terminal, we arrived at the site and headed to our wine-tasting experience under a magnificent oak tree. We booked the ‘Under the Oaks’ tasting, which was certainly a memorable experience, and it was a gorgeous place to sit and enjoy some fantastic Boschendal wines. We went for the more premium selection that Boschendal offers visitors, including some fabulous red wines. We also added the MCC Sparkling Wine selection too, as we knew that Boschendal sparkling wine has a great reputation. The waitress who served us was friendly and efficient, talking through the wines in good detail, as well as explaining the various production methods used at Boschendal. We had a bit of time to explore Boschendal and thoroughly enjoyed our time walking around the 16th-century estate. Boschendal is one of the bigger vineyards in Franschhoek, but it keeps the charm of a smaller vineyard. It’s certainly a vineyard I would highly recommend, and if you can, book the ‘Under the Oaks’ tasting experience, it’s a truly unique and memorable way to enjoy wine tasting.

Delightful picnic on the beautiful estate on day 1, followed by an amazing dinner. Woke up early for a brisk run through the orchards (and just had to taste the amazing fruit calling to me). Loved the personalised service and enjoying the wine while birdwatching … each cottage warm, inviting and so lovely
