PalmyraStays is next to the Goukou river. It is 1,9 km from the bridge. It is out of the hustle and bustle of busy Decembers but still close enough to drive to the main beach. The new manager and his wife are gems. Our shower clogged up at 10 pm the night and Etienne came straight away and fixed it. For a more rustic atmosphere there is the wooden cabins at the river. The cabins have steep stairs to give way to a platform that gives a magnificent view over the river. The place is dog friendly. If you need peace and quiet Palmyra is the place for you

We always enjoy the stay with its amazing views over the river.If you enjoy peace and tranquillity Blue bell is the place, very close to nature.The old dover stove in the kitchen was the highlight of our stay. The children was amazed with what we grew up with. Need to ensure to book early to secure my stay.

The camp supervisor was a real gem. Helped us a lot with unexpected car trouble. As for the accommodation, I did not expect 5 star treatment as it is camping but the bungalow was dirty and loads of huge spiders and ants. I would suggest that a deep clean is done before guest's arrive. It is under trees and very close to nature so of course some creepy crawlies are expected, but not those that have nesteled in under the beds with huge cobwebs. Also in camp two you have to be mobile and fit its quiet a few steps up to the cabin that isnt suitable for people with weak health. Toilets are a ways off from the cabin also one mens and one womans toilet and shower. But water nice and hot. Also getting into the camp site is quiet a steep dirt road. Suitable for bakkies or larger type vehicles. We fell into a dip a few times. Staff was friendly. As said camp supervisor was a gem. If you are healthy young and have suitable transport palmyra will suit your fancy but personally it was difficult getting in and out both vehicle wise and also taking the steps up and down and walking a ways to the facilities. Recommended is taking some die ant with you since the ants are bad. But the view is amazing. Its very peaceful and I loved that. Also a swim in the river is wonderfully refreshing. I would suggest if you have a smaller car and not so good health rather stay in the chalets.

NEVER AGAIN! Over the last 3 years, the Bluebell cottage condition has been getting progressively worse. Arrived to a dirty floor with glass shards all over the kitchen area (no notification of the broken window prior to the time); a filthy rug which produced 4 scoops of black dust when we brushed it on day 1 (no vacuum cleaner!); half-washed crockery, glassware and cutlery; all pots & pans with grease residue; and cobwebs everywhere. The caretakers left us without a cold water tap in the bathroom for 7 days (in addition to having to put up with the torture treatment of a steadily dripping tap) during our 14-day stay and then, when they finally decided to replace it, entered the paid-for rented cottage unlawfully without our permission while we were absent. A huge spider nest in the bathroom with millions of spiders; other horrific spiders throughout the cottage; cockroaches all over; 3 scorpions in the kitchen and bedroom; ants absolutely everywhere; a toilet which doesn't flush properly; a sewerage stench intermittently in the bathroom from the shower drain; dreadfully poor lighting from death-defying electrical connections, sub-standard, worn linen with holes and soot falling from the ceiling reeds non-stop all contributed to the final straws for us. We've stayed on countless guest farms over many years - all always scrupulously clean with not an insect in sight thanks to fumigation and thorough, hygienic cleaning practices which ensure a pleasant getaway experience for guests. So, we'll never return to Palmyra. It was truly a holiday from hell.

If you wanna get away from the busy city life...Palmyra stays would be the place you would go. Becoming one with nature and just relaxation, Great staff and management. A home away from home. Enjoyed every minute of it and would be returning very soon.

Palmyra is a true nature lover's destination! What a joy to be next to the beautiful Goukou river and have access to a private beach.

The best place to stay in Stilbaai! So beautiful and the view is amazing. The Tented camps by the river is clean and well equipped. The hosts are helpful and friendly. Thanks

False advertising.We wasted 2 days driving to find out there are not en'suite bathrooms as advertised.Slept over in Cabin 2 for the night sorry should say sat up the whole night because the ants had first option.Cabin floor was wet after the rain.Spacing on decking is a bit big for small kids learning to walk.

We absolutely loved our stay here! What a beautiful, peaceful place to rest your soul and reconnect with nature. Amazing views, lots of privacy, so unexpected. Couldn't have been more happy and enjoyed every minute. One of my favourite places now and looking forward to return. Thanks
