Greyton Nature Reserve - Start of Boesmanskloof Trail
I really don’t want to say anything bad about the place as I try to cherish every opportunity I can get to do a hike in such an unspoilt environment but… we set out early to do the Hardepeerkloof hike. What was supposed to have been a 5km hike turned into a unsuccessfully completed hike. According to the board you have to start on the Platkloof trail and then it should veer off. After 4km zig zagging up we eventually reached a t-junction that wasn’t on the map. With no trail markings or any idee how much further we still have to go, we decided to rather go back the way we came. I’d like to think that we are moderately fit but I wouldn’t recommend this unless you are very fit. The trail is steep and the higher you go the more the trail is covered in lose rocks. To add insult to injury, when we made it back to the car, a ‘guide’ at the gate said we actually had to take the Boesmanskloof trail which eventually would have take us to the summit. Long story short, if you aren’t familiar with the various trails on offer, rather stick with the Platkloof trail. It appears to be the best marked and therefore safer.

A gem of a spot with walks/hikes for all levels and ages. Some gorgeous flowers in spring/summer, waterfalls, epic pools....Wonderfully knowledgeable and friendly ranger at entrance - take some time to chat, he is very helpful. Just sorry I didn't get his name.

The Greyton Nature Reserve is full of a number of short walks and it’s free to enter. If you’re trying the short Noupoort walk after heavy rains you won’t get very far because it floods quite easily, so be prepared to take your shoes off or turn back. The red trail was nice, there is a sharp accent at one point, but you get nice views at the top.

Such a beautiful place to walk. The trails are clearly posed and we felt safe walking there. Spotted a variety of birds and even a shy buck.

Breathtaking views and all paths are well signposted. Take enough water and something warm when planning to hike through to McGregor.

This is truly a great experience! You can enjoy nature at its best. The trail routes are clearly marked. We did not have any difficulties navigating along the well kept trails. The nature reserve staf are friendly and helpful. Take your swimming gear with when you do the waterfall route.

Various trails in this beautiful nature reserve. There isn't any shade so be sure to start early to avoid the hot summer sun. Take hat, sunscreen, water and wear good walking shoes as the oath is rocky There is a short walk to the dam and the rock pools.

Peaceful hiking trail even for the little ones or the elderly wanting to explore nature at its best-safe but be careful grounds u walking saw quite a few snake holes but no site of any snakes at all also no site of baboons even though signage indicates to be weary of baboons
