The first real city in South Africa was established in the heart and center of where an extinction level meteorite once hit southern parts of Africa, that’s about 60 million years. The establishment of one of the most valuable resources on earth turned this dry part of the country into one of the most important economies the world had ever seen. Highly rich in diamonds, patrons such as Cecil John Rhodes created a fortune back in the late 1800s in the area, today Kimberly is one of the richest cities in terms of history of mining in the country, with one of the biggest man-made holes the world has ever seen.

Water problems with that municipality. It's really bad. Electricity is one of the most expensive in South Africa.
