45Km (1h30min) Dirt road to lodge. 4x4 Needed to get to the lodge. My 2nd time there. The Bush Cottage very nice but the food and cleanliness not up to standard.

What a unique place Rob and his family have built. So quiet so remote so beautiful. Our nightly fee per person included dinner and breakfast. Such amazing food. The bushman hike is highly recommended. Wish we could have spent more time here. Will definitely be back. Be sure to read getting there directions on his website as google maps directs you along the wrong route. Our next stop was the Baviaans, what a magic 4x4 trail from here.

Be very careful of using google maps to route to this place . There are only two ways to get to it . One is via rus en vrede 4x4 trail and the other from Assegaaibos station . If you route to it on google maps and you are sitting in Kareedouw it may offer you a route that takes you out on the Joubertina road and then up into the mountains . this is a NO through road onto private property . This road has extensive washaways , is over grown and could only be driven on a tractor if at all .

Fantastic retreat, no cellphone signal, and back to basics.. Lovely comfy cottages, friendly and helpful owners. Get away from it all!! Grab a book, or walking shoes and Go relax at Baviaans Lodge!

Not what I expected.Not for the elderly or infirmWent expecting a lot more bird life and fauna.But owner Rob great helpful guy and food good
