Sani Stone Lodge

Young man who welcomed us was the only positive. Sign to lodge impossible to spot when driving. 3 km 'road' almost impassable. Room tiny, only 1 chair, toilet bowl moved thereby flooding the room, tap on basin came off. So bad that we left without even cleaning our teeth never mind trying the shower. The bed was clean and comfortable. Could not even give one star.

I recommend this place to adventure travellers. The location is outstanding for getting out of reception into the wilderness, arranging independent hikes, and seeing millions of stars by night with no light pollution. Heating is with wood in the fireplace. Meals of excellent quality. Staff really care about your experience.Note - the property is off road and requires a 4×4 to access. You must cross a small river which is easy in a 4×4.Dinner was R130. Breakfast was R120. Coffees for R25. Dorm room for R250 per person.It was an amazing place to drink wine by the fireplace (BYO) and venture out on some amazing hikes. The appeal of this place is not in Western amenities as you would get in a 4 star hotel. The appeal of this place is the opportunity it presents to connect with nature, to get off grid and connect with people around you, to see the stars with clarity like few other places in the world with zero light pollution or sound other than wind sweeping across the natural hills, and to experience the epic hospitality or the local basotho people who work hard to being you the best experience they can.This was the least money grabbing" and most authentic place we stayed in all of Lesotho."

Lovely place, rustic but they are trying. They light the fire in the rondavel at night to keep you warm and thick blankets on the beds. No electricity so very peaceful, just a generator at the restuarant at dinner time. Great view for sunsets. Really enjoyed our stay and will be back!

Very typical buildings in Lesotho offering accommodation with good bed, hot shower, great food and plenty of drinks to choose from. We enjoyed our stay here a lot. Staff was very kind, gave us tips for day trips. Such as the best way to Thabana Ntlenyana mountain. In the evening they set up fireplace in our rondoval.It was a great Lesotho experience

The rooms are good for the price that you pay.The restaurant experience was not good!The place isn't fancy so when you get there they don't have a menu and pricing. We ordered thinking the food and drinks wouldn't cost a lot but when we got the bill we were shocked and ripped off. For all we know they could make up the pricing as they please…The price they charged for their cold food and small potions were ridiculous.We don't even pay that much at a GOOD restaurant.I would use their rooms again because the price is good but don't recommend the restaurant.

If you are use to hotel service dont go here. This is for the hardcore adventure type. Great place with beautiful views all around, The service from the people are top class. I can imagine how beautiful it looks in the snow. We had a great time and will most definitely recommend Sani Stone Lodge to anyone that loves the outdoors and doesn't care about luxury living conditions.

The place is located in the middle of the mountains, very nice location. The staff has been very nice, always helpful with us during our stay.There is place to camp for tents and you can use the kitchen in that case. It is very well prepared, with hot water and a chill atmosphere in the common area.Thombi and Lerato, the two staff girls while we were there, were very kind and we really appreciate how they took care of us.Very nice place to stay!

3 stars for nature but service is not very good. Had to shower in ice cold water as the owner refused to accept the fact that the gass bottle is empty. No staff available when we want to book in, we had to walk around even in their kitchen to try and find anyone.

We experienced wonderful warmth and hospitality from the staff but the bubble gum and string facility falls far short of even a back packers stopover never mind a lodge

Beautiful setting..accomadation is clean and neat. Water can be an issue on cold mornings when pipes freeze ... well situated close to border
