Modern Art Projects South Africa (MAPSA)

MAP is the place to stay in Richmond! The staff are fantastic and are always there to help! The showers were however cold here which is dreadful after a long day's work. MAP is located in the center of Richmond and it is very easy to see Richmond from MAP. The rooms are also very spacious. There really aren't many bad things about MAP!

The MAPSA art residency is a real haven of and for creativity - visual arts and related. A collection by Hartie Siertsema and curator/ artist Arbrie Fourie have made it a beacon for contemporary artmaking in the Karoo, South Africa.There's something rather magical about viewing work by established, mid-career and emerging artists in unexpected places such as Richmond, Karoo.Regular features also include the Black Box, Black Room, Permanent artist in residence, Mongezi Ncome and the Bookbinding Project; and land artworks...watch this space for more...

A fascinating gallery that showcases an eclectic and eccentric gathering in of artworks by emerging and established artists. It's been put together in the heart of the Karoo by Harrie Siertsema and Abrie Fourie. Siertsema is better known as the man behind the small chain of Harrie's Pancakes outlets around the country, but the MAPSA gallery is magical. The works are designed to provoke conversation, but also contemplation. Don't make the mistake we did, of having too liitle time to take it all in. This is at least half a day of discovery. The bookbinding project attached to the gallery is also worth a visit, and support. The complex" marked the beginning of a revival in Richmond

One of those gems you find in the Karoo. Amazing visual art from well known artists. Well worth the visit.

MAPSA is beneficial to our organization KCC and the community by teaching and showing us more about arts.Great place to be and it open up the creative juices to flow within one.

The towns folk said to visit the art gallery and we were skeptical. SO GLAD WE DID! What an amazing find. You walk into the gallery and met with so many beautiful and interesting works!I would highly recommend spending some time here. They also offer a bite to eat!

Such a special place to stay, with after hours gallery access. The accommodation is spacious, spotless, and filled with even more artistic delights. Staff were very helpful.

A really beautiful place to wander around - and you need to spend time and walk around a few times - so as not to miss anything. Some lovely and challenging pieces...

Such a beautiful space. Fully enjoyed the experience and walking through all the art. Could spend hours here looking at everything. If you are in this area you should definitely have a visit.If it looks closed: Just call the number on the front door and they open for you.

Delighted to have been able to have an overnight stop here. The art gallery is worthy of being in a city. My ensuite room had all the comfort I needed & the yellowwood kitchen table was an art piece in itself.
