Sparks Bay ,located on the iconic Clarence Drive(R44) between Gordons Bay and Betty's Bay has a number of lovely picnic spots as well as a lovely tidal pool.Stop and enjoy the scenery - panoramic mountain views ,and views over False Bay looking towards Cape Point, Simon's Town and Macassar.Gets quite crowded over good weather weekends and security mwn control access. Popular with fishermen too.As hard as the cleaning crew work in trying to keep the place tidy after visitors, there is still an immense amount of broken glass and plastic. There are basic toilet facilities. A lovely pause along the coast.

This is a really great family picnic area with a beautiful rock pool. There are lifeguards on duty and there is no entry fee charged. No alcohol is allowed which is great because there are a lot of children and families visiting. The only downside is that visitors do not clean up their litter and there is often a lot of rubbish lying around that we just pick up ourselves. I would not suggest going there at month end though as it gets very crowded. Mid month can be quite peaceful and enjoyable. My family love snorkeling in the rocks when the tide is in. This is a shell beach not a sand beach so dont walk around barefoot your feet may get cut on the shells or broken glass. We have spotted whales, seals and birds every time we have visited. There is not a lot of security so be vigilant and safe guard your belongings as with any public area. Sparks Bay is just past Dappat se Gat about 10kms out of Gordon's Bay but it feels like you are much further away. There are very old braai facilities available, bring your own grill, charcoal, tools etc. Please ensure all fires are put out with water and keep embers to a minimum as the fynbos and mountains are right there and are a fire hazard. Again this is an open public space so be aware but otherwise we had a lovely afternoon relaxing.

Other than the beautiful views, this place is not family friendly at all its crowded, no life guides on duty considering the hectic ties , toilets are all damaged not usable. I definitely won't waist my time and energy driving so far only to be disappointed and frustrated.

Gate closed today because there was filming going on, near the entrance. So the few visitors had to park on the road, walk initially on the busy road and then take a steep, dilapidated path down to the pool. Felt sorry for the mother and Granny carrying their cooler boxes, and shepherding a couple of young kids along this route because the entrance was closed. Pool itself lovely... but to much broken glass in the area around the pool

Wear good thick soled shoes as there are a lot of broken bottles. Such beauty to be seen all around.

Beautiful tidal pool. Nice and deep. Good length of you want to do laps. Bring an umbrella for the beach though.

It's a nice pool to swim in, especially for the kids, as it's sheltered from the waves. If you are going to sit on the beach to watch the kids, bring an umbrella because there's no shade on the beach. The toilets are not clean and one of them was clogged.

Nice tidal pool, especially with a nice sunset!Area is not well maintained, but the beauty of nature makes up for it. They do have working showers though.
