Engen Helderberg Convenience

I work in somerset west and stay in gordons bay so this petrol station is the most convenient one for me. I normally refuel every single day and have never had a problem before but my last two visits I got a petrol attendant with the name Arnold I think that refuses to serve me. He tells me that at 11:35pm I cant throw in petrol because of curfew and he is going to get into trouble. I was very upset last night when it happened again that I asked the ladies working inside for the managers number, only to get give a piece of paper with the number printed on the bottom(guess mobile phones are more important)

Was in Somerset Sqaure for the and decide to go and have lunch at the Engen Wimpy across the road from Somerset Sqaure.I was approach by the hostess and choose to sit at the table where I can charge my fone..Michelle the waitress took my order. I ordered a cupperchino..and then decide to order a spare rib with fried onions..order took about 25min..finally my spare rib arrive..the fried onions where cold..and the spare rib was to tough to chew..please is there any way that you can pre Cooke the spare rib..i realy did not enjoy it but because I was hungry I had to swallow it down......Will visit wimpy again in future. But won't order spare rib again..will rather go to Spur for a good portion..Thank you kindly..

Today at approximately 15:15 I stopped to refuel. I normally refuel here. There was an attendant leaning against the guard rail at one of the middle pumps, so I stopped there next to him. Another car pulled in after me to the pump on the end, and ignoring me he went to serve them. I am not being petty, but please sort this out. Check your cameras. Caltex in Victoria is actually way more convenient for me.

Terrible experience. Don't visit this specific petrol station, especially if you are a young woman. After putting petrol, my fuel gauge didn't move up at all. After confronting my petrol attendant, he shouted and disrespected me to the point of tears. He also laughed at me mockingly when I tried explaining myself. Management is also weak for letting this happen and using the excuse of me being a woman" to justify this. Sexist men like this are one of the reasons GBV is so bad in South Africa. Petrol attendants are usually very nice but this is such a pity because it is the closest one to my house. Do better."

A clean shop, great service staff outside, friendly staff inside the store. It’s one of the nicest Engens around.It can be busy around 17:00.

Horrible experience received from the staff at Engen on the 5th of June. This is such a pity as we have never experienced any bad service from this branch. My card transaction was in progress after refueling my vehicle. During the transaction the slips paper of the card machine was empty and it did not print. The lady immediately said my card declined. After going backwards and forward with numerous Engen employees involved they all confirmed the transaction declined. After about 30 minutes of absolute incompetence I had to get an ABSA agent to intervene. ABSA explained everything went through and nothing declined, but again the staff spoke in a language that we did not understand thus we did not know what they discussed. Eventually they said the pumps all went off and then a register was checked and still no progress. Eventually they found the transaction on the system by which they just said “oh so sorry”!!! 45 minutes late for work for this. Train your staff!!! Basics like customer service skills and communication skills is something that is really not difficult to explain to staff. I will never return no matter what! Horrible!

Need to point out a potential safety issue. While filling up the attendant used the petrol cap of the car to wedge open the fuel nozzle handle. This would over ride the pump cutoff. Fortunately I was out of the car and was able to stop him. He still managed to mess fuel down the side of the car. The owner needs to look into training and supervision of the staff. Shouldn't expect customers to take care of this.
