St Michaels Sands Hotel and Restaurant

Awesome experience the staff was (Sbusiso Zulu) was very attentive and helpful throughout our stay. Would definitely recommend St. Mikes to friends and family.

My husband and I recently stayed at st michaels hotel and it was an absolutely horrible experience. During load shedding the generator didn't work, then the aircons didn't work either. There was no hot water either. When we did complain we got told load shedding is causing issues. We were still charged the full amount and nothing was done to make our stay a pleasant one. No fans were provided or lights during load shedding.Overall it was a horrible experience in the south coast and management needs to look at how they can address these issues!!

The restaurant is brilliant! Courteous staff all round. The compulsion to speak Zulu with people who clearly do not speak the language and are struggling is excluding and makes one feel unwanted. I was given conflicting information. When I booked, I was told that the restaurant was closed but when I arrived it was open. That was a positive, to see it open. I was also told the air conditioner is not working. When I got there I was told it was okay only for me to sweat profusely trying to operate it. I asked for a fan on room service and did not get one until I requested it in person. Someone came to check the AC and still spoke Zulu despite seeing how much I struggled. There was also an odd snell in the bathroom and pillows. It was a disappointing experience

This place is a favourite of mine. I've been to St Michael's beach almost every year since birth, and when my gran's accommodation was bought, we started using this place, and it was good enough to now have become part of the nostalgia. It is a great place in its own right too!

Had a large family function at the events room. Service and hospitality was great. The buffet meal was excellent. I highly recommend having your celebrations here as the price is reasonable as well.

The 5 star rating is for the staff, they are extremely accommodating and super friendly and will go beyond their means to accommodate you in any way, they room were super cosy, really enjoyable and great atmospheric place to be. Thank you guys for the great accommodation.

Suffering from food poisoning at the moment after eating at this hotel. I told them I am vegan and I even proceeded to tell them what vegan means. The chef needs to go back to college perhaps before they kill someone through their lack of knowledge regarding food safety. He gave me garlic bread which was shaped like a potato so I bit into it. Once I bit in I realised it was garlic bread and it was drenched in butter (dairy). In a lot of pain and discomfort now thanks to the negligence or ignorance of the kitchen staff.

It was extremely noisy during the morning hours (02:00 - 04:00) with other guests walking around making alot of noise. It was strange that security does not walk around and monitor. The cleaners can also be a bit more considerate while cleaning. I was working at that time and was talking on the phone, while talking the lady threw all the dishes in the sink with a loud bang and dropped everything very loudly, when my partner told her that I'm on the phone and working, she continued to loudly pack the plates in a loud manner and gave us a stink eye. The place is modern and quite neat. The gardens, pool, game room and tennis court is well maintained and was even nicer that it is free to use. They have a generator which is nice and helpful. Please note, the sauna does not work and the air-conditioning as well but we did not mind. The sauna area is not open, which i would have enjoyed but it is not a problem. Reception is open 24 hours and very helpful for emergencies. Do take note that there might be a conference which is a bit noisy, but they finish up around 23:00 and did not disturb us that much, the hotel will also let you know upfront for you to decide. I will advise for a short stay.

Really enjoyed our stay. Some minor things in the room that need upgrading. Restaurant is lovely with good food. Definitely worth staying here. The hotel organised extra activities to help everyone feel at home. Thank you to all the friendly staff.

A lovely restaurant with cheerful atmosphere. The menu was executed splendidly. Their wine offerings could do with an improvement otherwise we enjoyed our evening
