Econo Foods Port Elizabeth

Econo Foods is an ideal local suburban food place with a wise range of food products, mainly frozen plus eggs, charcoal, condiments and spices, etc. The aisles and gondola ends are well stocked and neatly kept. Adverts show the latest specials. As a qualified biochemist, I however marked them down because of the huge amount of FDA approved additives recorded on the food labels and which are basically very unhealthy for humans as well as the large amount of Genetically Modified Organisms in their food ranges. There was is not enough non-GMO stock to choose from.

Great place to shop in store. A bit disappointed with the delivery service. It took 3 days for the delivery to arrive and the meat was not in the best condition.

Man the selection is just out of this world. Ultra clean store,fridges and neat as can be shelves. Prices is so low it has to be checked to be sure. Quality ACTUALLY out do's the prices. You have to go there.

2nd time some of their freezers are not working and stock is packed away. So I did not get everything I needed. Inconvenient to ask everytime you need something.

Was there yesterday to buy some calamari rings, there was no price and when I asked what the price was the guy told me it was 79.90. Only to find out it when I got to the till point it was 99.90. Also you never see any of the staff smiling.

On the 27/28th of February my fiance, Ryan, placed two orders with the Overbaakens branch for delivery.It was a large order altogether and 14 days later we still have NOT received the order.We contacted the branch and decided not to go with a refund, as we sympathized with the fact that there were large orders at the end of February.We were in contact with the driver to make arrangements for delivery, after we didn't receive it by the 1st of March, as we both work. We found out by our neighbours that he was coming during the day, NOT at the arranged time we had spoken to him about.IT'S BEEN TWO WEEKS ANS STILL NOTHING!!I have been purchasing from this branch for almost a year, but I will NO longer support them as their management does not see the need to prioritise orders that have been outstanding for more than a week, especially of the clients have followed up continuously with regards the delay in delivery.If I ever buy from Econo Foods again it will be from another branch.The few Rands I save is not the worth the service and apart from the Frozen vegetables the other products are subpar!

Econo foods was always pticrd well, but latetly they are priced in line with any local grocery store, and often more expensive : at >R100/kg for viennas and russians and R120/kg for cheese - its no longer worthwhile to visit Econofoods in favour of my local nearer supermarket. And its not that the quality of foods are on par with other supermarkets .....

I bought a foodlands product and was not happy with what I got my money was fully refunded. I would just want to say that with service like that i will be a customer for years to come.
