Dec 2018: I had forgotten to bring my driver's licence so my wife and I had to look for an alternative to explore garden route. We went with Trip & Drop and our driver was Anton. Below is the route we took and the cost.Day 1 (R2000 for full 8hrs):Start: Lodging at Oudtshoorn1. Cango caves2. Outeniqua Pass3. Skydive Plettenberg bay4. Lodging in Plettenberg bayDay 2 (R2800 for full 8hrs):Start: Lodging at Plettenberg bay1. Bloukrans bridge2. Untouched Adventures@storm river mouth3. Lodging in Port ElizabethThe prices depends on the distance mainly (you basically tell them where you intend to go and they'll give you a quote) and does not include entrance fees.At first glance you'll probably think it is too costly but below are some of the considerations:1. SafetyThe vehicle had proper seat belts and the boot is fully covered so your luggage or belongings is out of public eye. Anton drives safely and is familiar with the region he listed so he doesn't need to keep looking at Google maps on his phone instead of the road. He drives as close to wherever you need to go so you do not need to walk so far(less exposed to danger too) and would escort you if you need to walk some distance. Seriously you will appreciate all these when you are in South Africa.2. CostThere is Baz bus which seems cheaper but the timings were very rigid (if you missed the bus you will wait another day), only goes to places near the main route (certain places of interest are not on the main route and local transport there will incur more cost)and it is very expensive about R3000 per pax for a 7 day one way pass from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth.Uber is just too expensive for example a ride from Stellenbosch to Oudtshoorn (400km) cost R3300 one way. They will not stay with you thoroughout and any detours would cost more. Though you can try striking a deal with the uber driver if you find them reliable but they do not come cheap even if they give you a discount. The cost of petrol is R15 per litre. So assuming 12km/litre(most cars are quite old so not very efficient), a 100km ride will cost about R120 for fuel. Usually the driver would also have to incur cost to travel to your destination to pick you up as well as travel back after you are done so their own cost would easily be R1000 for a 400km journey and this is already in their price. As such I leave it to you to judge if 8 hrs of service is worth it.3. Others-Anton was very punctual for all our meeting timings (if you have a tight schedule it will be very reassuring)-He was always on standby while we did our activities (some drivers will try and earn more and disappear while you do your activities and may not come back on time but he doesn't do that)-He is very polite and nice to chat (he shares history of the country and is knowledgeable about most of the stuff you'll be interested in about the country )-He does not ask for more money (we did some changes to our itnerary due to unforeseen circumstances and that increased the distance by about 60km but he did not mention anything about more money) and charge you extra for unreasonable things (seriously this is an important point as it really ruins your day when the driver keep saying this or that is not included in the price)-He switches the air con in the car for your comfort (all the uber drivers I rode with do not switch on the air con to save on fuel)-He is very responsive when you call or text himI would highly recommend Anton from Trip & Drop.

We called Anton a day before arriving at George Airport. Anton collected us from the Airport, and was spot on with his timing. he suggested good restaurants and honestly made my stay Extremely Comfortable as he was always willing to assist. He took us all the way to Knysna where we later met with family. I did not feel unsafe for one moment and would recommend him to anyone. Thank you Anton.

We engaged the services of Anton for 2 full days at very short notice, as we were not able to proceed with our car rental due to unforeseen circumstances. Really grateful to have met Anton, who is always friendly, punctual and reliable. He always showed up about 5 minutes before the agreed timing to start our trip and had never been late. When we end our activities, he is always prompt to meet us right after our activities. Anton would also keep an eye on the time and ensure that we are ferried to our booked activities on time. He was also able to accommodate to some switches to some activities on our schedule. We couldn't be more grateful to have met Anton who sent us from Oudtshroon to Plettenberg Bay to Port Elizabeth. My husband also particularly enjoyed the long chats with him during the rides as we learnt more about South Africa. For those who are looking for transfer services / private hire services along the Garden Route, I would highly recommend you to engage Anton for a safe journey along the route.
