Great idea to keep history alive. Terrible service. 6 weeks and 3 trips to them 2 phone calls and still no cdOK so it's a month later. I have my CDs they even offered it without charge. Really nice ppl just a bit unorganized so I uped my rating from 2 to 4.

Loved the place. Joel was very helpful. They have such a versatile collection. Go there and watch for yourself. And if you don't have a grammofoon record player for the great collection of vynils: almost next door is a shop where you can buy a good one or have yours repaired if necessary. Enjoy the weekend.

Do not sell your records to this business, they will rip you off. I brought in an old record to get a quote. He looked at it for 5 seconds, told me it was worth a lot and then offered me 200 bucks for it.I then went to Mabu vynil and got offered 1500 for the same record which I was then told is actually a collectors edition which sells for 3 grand upwards.I understand everyone has their way of business but just a heads up for anyone looking to do the same with their old records.

I'm from the U.S. and was traveling to Cape Town for work. I found out about Kandi after reading a blog about Cape Town's best record stores. Google Maps doesn't have the location exact but the address is right. It's just down the road from the proposed Google pinned location.I went through every record this place had. Lots of great stuff at very reasonable prices (perhaps owing to the favorable dollar to Rand exchange rate). I found Eno, Bowie, the Equals, Phil Lynott's first solo, The Specials, Morrissey's first, Soft Machine, some Trojan Records stuff from the 70s. The South African pressings sounded pretty good! They seemed to have a lot of UK pressings too. They have a listening station which doesn't have headphones so your selections just blast out of the speakers. Interesting choice but it does the trick. There wasn't any music playing the whole time I was there. I think having some tunes on would really help the experience there. It was slightly awkward in the silence. All in all I had a great time hanging out in this shop. The space is light and airy and clean and the selection is diverse. The staff was friendly. They take credit cards. Beats the pants off of Mabu Vinyl which has the equivalent of US dollar bin or Goodwill records (50 Jesse Colin Young records) for 6x the price.Check it out. I wish Kandi well.
