Lady Stanford River Cruise
This river cruise was a wonderful experience, especially on such a beautiful crisp day. Probably the highest water level I've seen, but it added to the journey as we cruised past submerged docks and signposts, and speculated about homes on the river banks that were dangerously close to being at flood level. Picnicking on a boat is a lot of fun. We even got to see two fish eagles and a few water turtles, as well as a range of interesting bird life. Highly recommend the Lady Stanford team, and I appreciate that they made it possible for my 87yo dad to enjoy it too.

We had a wonderful trip down the Klein river and back aboard the Lady Stanford and were impressed by the smooth and comfortable ride. Sections of the river remain completely unspoiled by development and the views of the water, vegetation and distant mountains are stunning. The birdlife is abundant and our host and Captain, Peter, gave us an informed commentary of the identities of all the sightings. The best sighting of the cruise was of a magnificent Martial Eagle hovering a short distance away from us.For a beautiful experience of nature on the river we highly recommend a trip on the Lady Stanford.

We did this as a family and it was so enjoyable! The owner was friendly and played great music as we took the boat down the river. He can braai for you if you'd like (we just took a picnic) and there're tubes for swimming in the beautiful Kleinrivier. Can highly recommend!

Awesome experience on a sturdy boat with amazing bird life. Skipper shared lots of knowledge and it was evident that he had lots of experience. Enjoyed it thoroughly!

Very pleasant way to send a couple of hours. The skipper Peter is lovely to chat to about the wildlife and village life. Splash out and get some drinks and snacks organised for the best time. Or really splash out and jump overboard at a safe stopping point!

We decided to explore Stanford a little more and bought tickets for the Lady Stanford River Cruise. We were blown away by this cruise, it was worth every cent - the views are just incredible! The boat is quiet, in great condition and nice and clean.

Nice relaxing ride on a beautiful river. Very nice for bird watching. Our guide from our lodge came with us and helped us identify birds. The other guests also had their guide. There are some binoculars to share but I would recommend you bring your own if you want to bird watch as you often don’t have long to see birds. Our own guides each brought us drinks (alcohol was allowed). I’m not sure how it worked if your guide doesn’t come along. You should ask. There is a toilet on board but there wasn’t any toilet paper so bring some of your own.Mid way they stop and you are welcome to take a short swim in the river. Both the bottom and top deck were good to see birds.
