Sensei Rick Bothma is an excellent instructor with patience and understanding for new and existing students. He carries the lesson over in such a way that it is understandable to all to grasp.I would recommend him to anyone that wishes to start in Ninjutsu, or that wants to come over to Ninjutsu from another sport or Martial Arts or discipline.

I'm very lucky to have been a past student of Nin Kai Bujutsu. This school in particular is special, because it not only teaches you kata based on tradition, but also what is feasible when encountering realistic threats for survival purposes. Sensei Rick teaches, (among a plethora of other kata and techniques), how to make use of your senses, as well as your body, and how to use it for awareness and protection purposes. It is an all-encompassing, sufficient school where you not only learn effective kata, but about the significance of energy and the Japanese tradition, and how the art has been incorporated to suit modern-day situations. Sensei Rick is incredibly resourceful, as he has experience in other styles as well (one of them being Karate if I'm not mistaken), hence he knows what he's doing and what he's talking about, and he is incredibly passionate about what he does. You will NOT be disappointed!

I have been training with Nin-Kai on and off since 2010. The school is only a handful of places in the entire country that trains authentic Ninjutsu, the martial art of the Ninja. It is important to note that nearly all modern martial arts are competition sports. What is great and works in competition will not serve you on the street where there are no rules or referee. If your primary objective for doing martial arts is self defence then this is the school for you. Ninjutsu equips and prepares you for more realistic scenarios where often there is more than one attacker who has a knife or a gun or both. The school teaches more than just techniques. It teaches how to recognise and perceive potential danger and practical ways and techniques of living to keep one out of danger. It is also focused on improving one's mental and emotional well being. An instructor that is as enormously experienced and knowledgeable as Sensei Rick is incredibly hard to find.
