Thornycroft Lodge and Spa

Worst experience ever ! I would never recommend anyone to stay at this place . The owner and Fernand Remant and his wife Philisiwe Dube post misleading information about the establishment. For instance they have both reviewed their establishment (please do your Self a favour and check the reviews you will see their names and the good reviews they left ) besides this unethical behaviour. The lodge makes use of water from the dam which is not purified and the landlord did not disclose this to us . Currently they are renting rooms at the lodge and the experience has been terrible. Yes I understand that the establishment is in a fam but that does not mean that the water should come straight from the dam without it being purified. My partner and I had to buy water to bath , wash dishes and cook .I got an infection from using the water and my partner’s eczema flared up .When we explained this to to the landlord he did nothing about it . We actually took him to the rental tribunal . The landlord or his team did not do a pre -inspection before we moved in the house yet when we were living they wanted to inspect in order for us to get our deposit. Thank God we took pictures and reported the problems we found to the maintenance guy cause the landlord said wr should not Bother him as he was on holiday . Please do your self a favour and do not stay there . The landlord is very rude and seems to be taking advantage of the tenants . Pepper usually stay for a month or two and leave . It was even a struggle for us to get our deposit . Worst experience ever !!!

The lodge was at the end of a road that made me wish for a bit more of a off road vehicle than I was driving, especially as it was raining. I made it but then faced the hurdle of gaining access to the fortress as the whole place is designed with a center garden with rooms facing the centre. Thus the walls are outside and the main gate the only entrance.The number displayed on the gate got no response, so decided to hoot (although the same notice warned of fire consequences) zThis got a response and we were greeted and assisted by the hostess immediately.We were shown our rooms that were interesting! The rooms were comfortable and clean. The linen fresh and clean. When asked a kettle was provided. There was a fridge provided. Bathroom was a shower, it was clean and soap was provided.

Had a great stay. The staff and owner were warm and friendly. The rooms were cleen and neat.

The owner is an absolute brute, all services promised were not delivered on, such as wifi, pet friendly, laundry facilities, a well maintained road and access to a TV. The owner is completely unreasonable and rude. Even threatened members of my family. Do not stay here.

This place is beautiful., neat and very peaceful. A must for anyone wanting to get away from a hectic lifestyle. It is very inexpensive but you get a great place to stay at. R. Block

Thank you for a lovely stay it was just what the doctor ordered. Peace and tranquillity was what we were looking for and it was exactly what we got.The accommodation is affordable, the staff very efficient and the rooms neatly kept.Well done Thorny croft lodge. we will surely visit again.

The business is starting up. Wil revisit when they completely finish and open as the luxury and Spa as advertised. More stars coming. Access is through the woods and nature attractive. Need a bakkie though to navigate the roads.

Great place to get away. So quiet, in beautiful surroundings. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They treat you like a friend, not a customer. The rooms are fantastic. They even have free movies that you can watch. The bathrooms are great as well. Kumnandi kakulu apha.

There is absolutely NOTHING to like about this place.The pictures you see on the site are far more appealing than the place itself.Never mind the fact that we found some 'creature' chilling on a knife on the table.Everything about the place is misleading.Service, facilities, EVERYTHING

The place could be better my room smelt like mould I had to keep the fan on and windows open during my stay, we had to continuously ask for toilet paper the pool wasn't clean, the service however was top notch.
