Benvie Garden
This was my first time at Benvie, last weekend. It is a hidden gem in the Karkloof and all the flowers are out in full force due to it being Spring! It is so quiet and peaceful here - you can hear the birds chirping. The gardens are beautiful maintained, loved that all the historical trees from around the world are labelled so we can learn about them. Will definitely be back! Also loved reading about the history of the gardens and the Benvie family. It’s also easy to get there on the karkloof road, the road is well marked. Pack a blanket and a picnic!

Heard a lot about it - but it is a MUST see experience!! - especially around Sept when the Azaleas and Rhodedendrums are flowering. But the extent of large trees is also mind blowing. The largest number of very large and exotic trees I have ever seen. Take your own picnic, park where you like and listen to the birds. Pure magic. R50 per person entry.

One of the most beautiful gardens I have seen in South Africa. Majestic old pine trees from all over the world. Tranquil walking trial around beautiful landscaped lawns. Birders paradise. Definitely worth a visit.

The garden is big, beautiful and well maintained. No litter. There benches along the path. Plenty of parking. Space for children to run around.

A fantastic exhibit of the world's great trees! And a gorgeous garden also. We had fabulous sightings of the Orange Ground Thrush also, nicely out in the open.

Benvie Gardens offers a tranquil breakaway. The garden showcases trees from around the world. There are a few open grass fields which are perfect for having a picnic or relaxing time with friends or family. There is a easy stroll of about 2km around the garden. It's a great spot for bird watchers - around 150 different birds have been spotted over the years. One thing to keep in mind is the route to get to the gardens is the approximate 40min gravel drive. Its not ideal for small cars, but you can reach it with patience.
