Well maintained and signposted routes around the waste water treatment works. Excellent for viewing warbirds and waders from the car. Need better signage from Strandfontein Road.

One of the top spots to come bird, it is relatively safe, situational awareness should always be applied regardless, the occasional report of a lone hippo means that staying in your car is a good idea, there are however a picnic area, lookout points and fishing spots. I would personally not venture to Strandfontein Sewer works for a picnic though.... There are always rarities and vagrants to be seen so keep your eyes open.The bird life is amazing.

Strandfontein Sewer Works
We have been here dozens of times over weekends, it's one of the best birding spots in the Western Cape. Stick to the wider paths if you are driving a sedan as paths are sometimes muddy, some need a car with higher clearance, some have thick, sandy spots. There's several pans to cover, you can drive slowy or park on the verge. No entrance fee charged and there are picnic tables in two areas. No bird hides, only a few platforms.

Strandfontein Sewer Works
A great place for birding and always a worthy stop for a committed birder. The maturation dams offer many ducks, gulls, waders and other great birds. I would not recommend this place if you are not a serious birder as it will most certainly spoil your trip
