Groot Constantia-Trust

The restaurant is amazing and the staff here werr amazing as well. The museum and the history, the setting and the property is stunning. However the wine sales staff and tour staff took the stars from five to three, probably more a two. Provided we were underdressed, we were treated as students, people less than, people that don't know how to taste wine (mixed the red and white wines in tasting), people that didn't pay fees although we displayed the provided stickers. When we left for the tour I overheard the lady say to make sure they are told we have ALREADY had three of the five. Arriving at the tour the new guide was great, but the experienced one additionally made us feel so unwelcome we didn't finish the tasting and ultimately didn't purchase any wines.

Lovely chocolate and wine pairing experience. The chardonnay paired with the orange blossom white chocolate was my favorite. The Gouverneurs Reserve paired with the espresso dark chocolate was absolutely delicious.I loved both the indoor and outdoor area and the service was good.

One of the most iconic wine farms on the South African wine scene is the Groot Constantia Wine Estate. This farms' quality and legacy speaks for itself, and it's a definite must-visit. There are numerous things to do from wine tastings, cellar tours and relaxing at one of the restaurants, to visiting the museum and learning the history of the farm and the Cape. We started off with a cellar tour and wine tasting, and thereafter proceeded to grab a late lunch at the Jonkerhuis" (reviewed separately). The wine tasting was very casual and included a range of different varietals so you are almost guaranteed of finding something you like. Their cellar tours are scheduled for certain time slots which I can highly recommend you do

Oldest winery. But I expected better wines. I loved the service and the tasting. Friendly staff & very knowledgeable, wines were not really fully compelling. Other than that, lovely experience

Groot Contantia is not just the oldest wine estate in South Africa, it's also the best known of the lot. Having the historical advantage over similar establishments in South Africa, Groot sets out to impress visitors with its stunning location at the top of a hill overlooking Cape Town and the natural beauty of the estate. Hugging the slopes, its vineyards extend as far as the eye can see. The buildings, whitewashed and always painted fresh, hark back to past glory days. The restaurants have great views of the surroundings, not to mention a rich variety of savory and sweet dishes. And of course, there's the wine.

This was such a beautiful place to visit the architecture was particularly captivatin. I’d recommend you visit on a Sunday . I highly recommend pairing the wine tasting with the chocolate tasting. Heavenly
