Need to upgrade campsite

A little difficult to locate with very subtle signposting - we had to hint for it! - hence my adding it onto Google maps!An understated spot, but geologically fascinating. I'd suggest doing some reading up on glacial pavements, the knowledge of which will add depth to the experience of standing on an ancient seabed that has been ridden across by glaciers aeons ago in time. I loved it!

A very sweet and tranquil little place with very friendly people!

My husband and I done the 5-day Oorlogskloof Hiking Trail close to Nieuwoudtville (Rock Pigeon Route). It's more than just a hike ... you need to be able to climb over BIG rocks (with a heavy backpack), pull yourself up (and over) huge boulders with ropes and chains and climb ladders up and down. Hikers must be experience and fit. The overnight huts are very basic (but then, on a hike all you need is a bed and a roof over your head). You will find bunk beds, mattresses and a table inside ... only 1 shower worked in one of the huts. Be warned: Some of the ladders are old & broken. But it's worth mentioning that nature is breathtaking beautiful, the rock formations out of this world and the views spectacular.

The facilities require urgent attention. Ee planned sleeping over for 3 nights but only spent one night their. The hikers we met there expressed their disappointment with the same findings.

In season some of the best views I have seen and the restaurant is great

It is a beautiful old church that has a large garden full of wildflowers in season

Pity about the ablutions at the camp site. Not hot water at all and no lights in the bathrooms.
