I will admit I was really nervous for my first appointment with Maggie. My experience in hair salons has been less than great for most of my life, since I have very fine but coarse wavy/curly hair. Either salons want to straighten my hair and cut it, or they treat it like 3C curly hair and style it completely wrong.This frustration lead me to trim my own hair and add some face framing layers as a semi-curtain bang. I thought everything was pretty good, except for the one side of my face where I had really messed up. The bangs were uneven and I hated it. My brothers have been coming to Maggie for a few years, and I didn’t want to fork out R500+ for a failed salon appointment again so I decided to book myself in.I think my experience is best summarised by the following anecdote: when I saw my boyfriend shortly after my appointment he was very confused as to why my hair looked so nice ‘without having gone to the hairdresser’ because “when you go to the hairdresser you’re sorely disappointed afterward and if you cut your own hair you’re sorely disappointed afterwards too”. This just shows how wonderful Maggie is.I could write the longest review because I am seriously so relieved and thrilled. She did the absolute best with the mess I gave her, and has given me instructions on what to do and what not to do and when to return to have the bad situation finally perfected. She was so active in listening to what happened, what my concerns are, what I want- and discussed with me throughout the entire process what she was doing and asking me if I would be happy with this or happy with that. Remember how I said I thought everything else was pretty good from my own cut? Well Maggie graciously showed me how terribly uneven everything was and explained how she could fix it. Everything I wanted in a hair appointment. I am over the moon. Honestly looking forward to my next appointment!The fact that Maggie is curly-girl specialised too is such a bonus. She gave me wonderful tips on how to take care of my fine waves. I’m so so chuffed. You won’t regret spending your time at Maggie’s. Not only is she a phenomenal hair stylist, but the whole experience was so reminiscent of mom cutting my hair in the kitchen as a young girl. Truly a heart warming morning, thank you Maggie!

This salon is incredible. I went in with dry and mismatched coloured hair and came out with amazingly glossy, healthy and stunning coloured hair. I can highly recommend this friendly and knowledgeable salon.

Maggie is an expert. She does not only understand hair - she understands people. She makes you look like a million dollars, and I always leave her presence feeling rejuvenated! Maggie is just wonderful. She advises, listens, even makes you coffee! She is so gentle with me as I have a sensitive scalp. I don't think my family and I will ever go elsewhere. She is able to provide just about everything a mall based salon can offer. If you're not sure, just contact her.
