Forest bird lodge

We had the most magnificent weekend getaway with our 2 kids here. The log cottage was very cosy and had all the facilities one required, and the fireplace was a win in the cold. Bathrooms were clean and lovely warm baths and showers were enjoyed after the walks. Finally the forests (which you are right in the middle of) are magnificent, we could set out on walks literally right from outside our front door. Wonderful clear streams with waterfalls abound, as do lush thick vegetation and majestic trees. Trails are well marked and pretty simple to negotiate (our 5 yr old enjoyed them thoroughly).

What a beautiful place to stay in one of the most beautiful places in South Africa, the Magoebaskloof forests. The accommodation has everything you may need for a really comfortable cozy stay in both summer & I assume winter as well (I stayed in Summer)-with a full kitchen, aircon, electric & gas fridge (incase the power goes out), an cast iron fireplace stove for the cold winter nights & even rather impressively quick WiFi. Was so so impressed with this place! The hosts, both 2 legged & 4 legged (2 lovely dogs live on the property to), were friendly, warm, welcoming & very helpful. A memorable stay that I would love to go back to in years to come...

Amazing place to relax and enjoy nature. The views are absolutely beautiful. The walking trails lead to waterfalls and a small stream. The cabins are fully equipped and the host is fantastic and helpful. We'd advise a vehicle that you can handle gravel road. This place is wonderful and a must.

Beautiful beyond words. If you want to go away from the noise of the city and sit by beautiful waterfalls and enjoy the silence of the night, this is the place to be. You are in the bush but have wi-fi if you so wish. A slice of heaven on earth.

My absolute happy place. I couldn't imagine a more beautiful, tranquil place to stay. Beautifully laid out log cabins situated in a natural evergreen subtropical forest. The mountainous area is so rich in fauna, flora and bird life, you wonder to yourself how such a magical place exists. Accommodation is equipped with everything you would need for self-catering.Extra blankets, towels, hair dryer, gas stove & oven, fridge, etc.The cabins are situated under forest canopies so you are welcomed by the odd spider, insect or monkey. Short and sweet hiking trails that lead to waterfalls.Thank you, Anne, for sharing your little piece of heaven with us.

Stunning venue, poor directions, blunt and abrupt staff member/owner. Absolutely beautiful natural surroundings. Highly recommended for some R&R. Would have given it 5 stars if not for our dealings with a lady named Anne.

The ultimate getaway. Extremely tranquil and beautiful. The sound of the wind through the trees, with the river nearby is so relaxing. Anne is an amazing host and the cottage had everything we needed.

Peaceful. Nice if you want to relax. However the cottage itself inside needs some paint and definately a good clean. The braai itself is extremely uncomfortable and we had to balance the meat on the grid.

The cabin we stayed in was delightful. It had all the necessities and we enjoyed our stay.

A beautiful and peaceful place. The accommodation is lovely and comfortable. We loved the out door shower.
