Northgate Ice Rink

Nostalgia is always activated when I visit this ice rinkStill very well maintained

Took my boys to the Northgate Ice Rink on the 4th of Jan to kill the post festive season lull & they absolutely loved it! It was my 9 year old's first time - so he got to use the little penguin helper which helped him. The sitting area could do with a bit of deep clean and some maintenance - but all in all - the boys loved it even with a few falls & bumps:)

The children had a lovely time. Well organized

Fun for the whole family, especially on Tuesday nights when ticket prices are halved. I think this is the only ice rink on Jhb left, so it's very popular. Included in the entrance fee is your skates rental. There is also a food and drinks kiosk inside.

Pre-Covid, this venue was one of my vavourite places to Ice scate.I am sad to say that the level of friendlyness of the ticketing office staff did not impress. Rude and blunt is still a polire way to discribe my experiance. I have my own scates and unfortunatley my one scate gave me problems. I went back to the ticketing office to rent scates to continue enjoying my session. I had to resort to the manager having to assist me.They let too many scaters into the rink which makes scating very dangerous and unenjoyable. The ice was melted and there are holes on the surface causing bad falls. Not enough stewards and no control on the ice.The rental scates are also old and it is hard to find a pair that fits well and is not lapedated.The experiance is disappointing.

I was disgusted at the man by the entrance. He walked right up to my sister and I yelling at us to pay when she goes to a coach. We were unaware that we still had to pay entrance as we’ve been coming for months. He proceeded to ask customers around us and even was yelling at the coach to come over. If he spoke to us in a nicer tone and just explained I would have no problem but the fact he was so disgusting rude and just snatched the money out my hand I was shocked

Nice place, great experience. They offer lessons if needed.Have a small shop inside for chips and cool drinks.Place was clean, neat. Well maintained.
