Mawusi Bush Lodge was the perfect getaway for our family of four. If you are looking for a place to unwind and connect with nature, this is the place for you. Nestled in the heart of South Africa's bushveld, Mawusi Bush Lodge is a tranquil retreat that offers both luxury and relaxation.The lodge is situated in a private game reserve, which offers a unique and unforgettable experience. The complete immersion in nature, combined with the lodge's top-notch amenities, makes for an unforgettable stay. The lodge offers various accommodations such as the Luxury Suites, Executive Suites, and the self-catering Villa. We stayed in one of the self-catering Villas, which was perfect for us.Our villa was clean, spacious, and had a stunning view of the bushveld. The villa had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, including a fully equipped kitchen, a lounge area with a fireplace, a dining area, and a private deck with a braai. This was great because we could have a family braai while taking in the beauty of our surroundings. The villa also had two bedrooms, each with their bathroom en suite, making it perfect for a family of four.The lodge's facilities were impressive. The pool area was our favorite, with a large pool and a beautiful deck. This was the perfect spot for us to relax and enjoy the African sun. The lodge also had a beautiful garden area with a boma, where we enjoyed our dinners under the stars. The lodge also had a game room that was perfect for our girls to play during the hot afternoons.Cathy and Rodney, the hosts, were absolutely amazing. They made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived until the day we left. They were friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic stay. They were always available to answer our questions and gave us some great recommendations on things to do and places to visit in the area. We felt like we were part of their family, and this made our stay even more special.During our stay, we took part in some of the amazing activities that the lodge offers. One of our favorites was the game drive. We got to see some of the amazing creatures that call the reserve home, and our guide was incredibly knowledgeable. We also went on a fantastic bushwalk where we got up close and personal with some of the smaller creatures, such as insects and reptiles. The lodge also offers birdwatching, fishing, and spa treatments, which we didn't have time to try out, but I am sure they are equally great.Overall, Mawusi Bush Lodge exceeded our expectations in every way possible. It was the perfect family getaway, and we had an unforgettable time. This was all thanks to Cathy and Rodney, who made our stay incredibly special. Their hospitality and warmth were unparalleled and made our stay that much better. I had an absolute amazing time at Mawusi Bush Lodge earlier this month (June 2021), when I travelled solo to celebrate my birthday. Rodney and Cathy truly went out of their way to welcome me and give me a warm stay. They are so genuine!!! (I even extended my stay). I cannot forget to mention the kindness of the lady who works at the lodge, Mogau, she served everything in excellence and love. Mawusi lodge is perfectly situated at the convenient proximities to ideal activities for real safari experience as well as to town and restaurants. It is safe, clean and has all the facilities that one needs at home away from home. They exceeded my expectations compared to their affordable rates. I HIGHLY recommend this place

I absolutely love getting away from the rush of city life into the quietness of the African Bush and when i do, there is only one place to stay - Mawusi Bush Lodge. The rooms are spotlessly clean and hosts Cathy and Rod ensure that we have a home-to-home experience. Just this morning I sat outside in the early hours listening to the symphony of bird life. Last night I took a self-drive and saw kudu, impala, giraffe, zebra, warthog and blue wilderbees. Mawusi Bush Lodge is a 40 minute drive from the Kruger National Park whether one enters via Orpen or Phalaborwa gates. My favourite place in the whole wide world has got to be Mawusi Bush Lodge and each time I stay, it leaves an indelable spot on my heart. Worth every cent!!

The place was absolutely clean , refreshing had soo much fun when we stayed there (5-9 Aug 2022).. it will most be our new holiday spot every year. Rod and Cathy thank you soo much for the warm welcome and for hosting us . It felt like being home away from home .really loved our stay there. Thanks once more Rod and Cathy for making even our birthday supper special ,really felt the love and warmth from you guys ❤️ .

In March 2023 my wife & I (I`m 95 & in a wheelchair) had the opportunity to spend 2 weeks @ Mawusi self catering Bush Lodge Hoedspruit. This was a marvelous much needed getaway. The accommodation superb. Clean, comfortable, luxurious & wheelchair friendly. What a wonderful shower with neither door or steps to worry about. Being on a game farm we had the privilege of seeing the animals walk past unaware of us being there. We did not feel the need to go on the various game drives on offer. It felt as if we were in the Garden of Eden. Even a snake was spotted The staff along with our hosts Rodney & Cathy were most welcoming, helpful & friendly, seeing to all our needs. The lodge is very comfortable, spacious with fridge, microwave, TV, aircon & fan. Even facility for braai facilities Although loadshedding is the norm in S A at the moment it did not affect us, as the Lodge makes use of solar power. A wonderful experience, soon to be repeated.

Good accommodation. No tv in rooms with dstv. Although tv with dstv is available in communal lounge. The kitchen is equiped with all the necessities. The rooms with its own bathroom is spacious and neat. I will stay there again if i am in the area.

Rod and Cathy were such great hosts, we received a warm welcome with wine and snacks prepared for us. The place is so clean and very beautiful, the atmosphere is very calming and one would wish to stay there a little longer... Thank you Rod and Cathy for an amazing weekend, we'll surely be coming back soon.
