Plaisir De Merle Wine Estate

Beautiful wine estate with a lot to offer. They have a market on site and the garden views are breathtaking. We came here on the wine tram and I wish we had spent more time here. Our server was so friendly and had great recommendations.

Came for a wine tasting with my wife and we were treated to a first class service from Colin. The wines are of an exceptional standard and still affordable. The renovations to the wine tasting room are superb and tasteful.Really enjoyed the experience and have been back multiple times since.The staff are all wonderful and the estate is beautiful.Well worth the visit.

Beautiful vast Estate surrounded by lush vineyards and surrounded by Cape Mountains.Gorgeous wooden interior, adorned with classical ornaments and Persian rugs.At our last Tram tour stop for the day we opted for a Gin tasting instead at R150 per person.The three tastings were beautifully presented on a wooden board. Each with large block of ice containing citrus or fruit, together with Honey/ Fynbos and Hibiscus infused tonic water.Fantastically balanced and perfect pairing with tonic water and ice. Very refreshing as the Cape reached boiling point that afternoon.

Such a beautiful estate. The service was incredibly nice and knowledgeable., the scenery is stunning. We tried the wine nougat tasting, which is pretty unique (they also offer a fudge version).

A truly wonderful place with amazing wine and even better staff! Colin is fantastic - so funny and knowledgeable- and gave us a wonderful experience. The cheese plate is five stars. Definitely the best of the wineries we went to in the area!

My new favourite place in the world.Biking and running track with many parts under a magical tree canopy.The wine and gin tasting room is so tastefully decorated that you are immediately transported to another place when you are there.The food and the restaurant is really tasty. The burger was one of the best I've ever had. And the Smoothies are great. The views of the mountains from the stoep are breathtaking.Colin is super welcoming and friendly. And the rest of the staff are very friendly and efficient.Amazing, sumptuous place!

Absolutely beautiful wine farm. The wine tasting team is very knowledgeable and awesome. Only give a semi bad review as the tastings are fairly pricey and you get very little wine to taste (wines are fairly decent) . We had a cheese board which I also found was really expensive for what get. It seems they are priced for tourism and not locals.

I stopped here from the wine tram and thought it was a beautiful place both inside and out. I opted for a gin tasting and bought a bottle to go as I really enjoyed their gin. Lovely service too, I would recommend not to miss this stop.

Thanks for the great service, all the staff is super friendly and helpful.We stayed on the farm in a beautiful and peaceful suite. We enjoyed a 10km hike on the Plaisir trails that is a must do. We received a complimentary wine tasting which we had at the wine farm with a nice Platter and live music. After that we walked through the small market where we bought ice cream to end off with. We were lucky enough to have lovely weather to enjoy the beautiful swimming pool. I would definitely recommend the accommodation because a quick visit is just to short.

Plaisir is a must-do for any wine lover visiting Franschoek. The stunning winery was one of our first stops when visiting the Franschhoek Wine Tram, and was a great starting point (we were on the Orange line). Plaisir is located in a beautiful setting, with stunning views of the surrounding vineyards.As the sun was shining, we enjoyed our tasting experience outside. The staff who dealt with us were very friendly, attentive, and approachable. They were always happy to share their great wine knowledge with us which was appreciated. The wine tastings are well-paced and informative. We opted for their more premium offering, which was worth the additional cost as they were sublime. I’m not a huge fan of Red Wine but they were some of the best I’ve ever tasted. There was a live acoustic singer, which really added an extra dimension to the experience.There is an on-site shop and restaurant, as well as a quick service café offering a variety of snacks (which you might need if you’re trying all their wines!). We had a wonderful time at Plaisir, and we would unquestionably recommend it to anyone visiting Franschhoek.
