Stopped on the way home from Hermanus to buy their infamous pies. The pies to say the least was a big disappointment - went for a curry pie (the curry was extremely sweet and meat tough), the venison pie wasn't much better that my wife had. The star was the salmon Quiche eaten by my daughter. The breads were very nice and very affordable.

Everyone should stop here once. The freshly squeezed apple juice and apple pie were incredible! Service was also great and the little accompanying shop and small wine cellar were great to get fresh provisions.

We drove from Cape Town for their famous pies...and it was terrible, no flavour, meaty, but tough, second time Houw Hoek let us down

Not sure how this place was voted the best farm stall in South Africa. Food is fine, pie was niceish. Service was terrible. When I got to the counter, person there snapped at me asking what I wanted and after placing my order she just dropped it on the counter and said there you go and then mumbled something about warming it. I just took it and left to pay. Iv stopped at farm stalls much better than this all over the country. Best so far is definitely Nanaga outside PE

A quick stop for their famous butter infused dough pies is definitely highly recommended to anyone passing through. They have a variety of canned and bottled farm produce. And if you have the extra bit of time on your hands, why not for a coffee-break before hitting the road again.
