What a welcome addition to the Hermanus restaurant scene. The menu is very seafood focussed and what else would you want being so close to the water. We had some very tasty abalone dishes and my wife enjoyed the freshest line fish I have had in years. We will back time and again.

Wow this is a superb addition to Hermanus eateries. Real atmosphere by Walker Bay as close to the ocean as you will get. Superb food based mainly on seafood with Abalone at the forefront. Just love every thing about this place. Atmosphere, view, service and food all up there. Would thoroughly recommend

Not satisfactory. Abelone was tough and not well prepared. Extremely small portion and price was high.I waited very long to be served although there were hardly any clients. The waiter was friendly and helpful.

From a discerning customer's point of view. Perlemoen is just one of those places that will blow your mind from the moment you discover it, until you eventually leave. The restaurant is situated in a unique and picturesque sea-level location at the bottom of a sheer drop, in the heart of Hermanus. The whereabouts and quaintness soon make you realise the bespoke affair you are about to be merged with. The staff is warm and friendly, equal to the ambiance. The food is simply put- mind-blowing and every bite will soon make you grasp the notion that the food is well crafted with quality ingredients and emerging flavours.I would love for the reataurant to perhaps add some soft background music. The price tag is perhaps a bit on the high side, but certainly nothing outrageous that they could probably get away with considering the setting.Dinner at Perlemoen is all-and-all a memorable experience with amazing food and certainly something we hope to enjoy on occasion again and again when we visit Hermanus from Cape Town.

So, we had high hopes and were not too disappointed. The food was good, but not amazing. The presentation was excellent, yet the flavors were a bit too bland and 'soft', a touch of garlic or chilli would have spiced up both the perlemoen risotto and the pea risotto. A bit of black pepper improved the taste slightly. Portions are medium sized as you still have the climb the stairs back up!My pork belly was abysmal. Looked awesome, but was tough as a junkyard chicken and lacked flavor. The crackling almost cracked my teeth and did not taste nice at all.The wine selection is only local wines and the wines are awesome, do try them! Our desert was good. Great location and great cosy atmosphere.

Fabulous site for a restaurant and such an amazing vibe. The whole old Harbour could be changed from a non-existent museum into such an amazing attraction. The food and service at Perlemoen is fantastic and views that are perfect. Some of your dishes could do with seasoning though. The Mussels were yum. My Tuna Tartare was lovely and such a clever idea, it just needed a little more balance of flavour. The perlemoen risotto needed seasoning inside, not salt and pepper in top from the table, but a beautifully prepared risotto with great texture. Can't wait to be back

Wow, what a gem!A fairly new addition to the already fantastic restaurants in Hermanus. But what a place! The setting simply doesn't get better than this. A small, but quaint setting right inside the historic Old Harbour, only a few steps from the water! Grab a seat outside if the weather allows (it's very well sheltered from the wind) or a seat inside on wet, cold evenings. The views are absolutely stunning regardless! The menu is small, but extremely well curated, prepared and presented. The winner here is obviously the perlemoen (abalone). It is ethically sourced from a nearby abalone farm and prepared with great care. This delicacy is very hard to find anywhere else and it is actually very reasonably priced too!Service is fantastic. Wine list is comprehensive and features mostly local wines from the region.A must visit restaurant - in fact, for the price and quality of food, its probably one of the best restaurants in the Western Cape!(booking for dinner essential)

A very limited menu in terms of their offerings especially for children and those with food intolerances. A flexible menu would be great. The service and views were better than the food. Great wine selections too.

What a gem! Outstanding food, superbly prepared by an amazing chef. The views are outstanding as well. The only negative is the amount of steps to the restaurant and having to navigate them back to your car after sunset and a few too many glasses of wine. We tried all the abalone dishes. Each more exquisite and generous than the last. Well priced... Good wine list.
