Klapperkop Nature Reserve

Did an 8km trail run arranged by the Klappies. This done early morning, before the gates open for motorised traffic. So only runners and cyclists. Quite technical underfoot and 248m of elevation. But clean, rubble free. Lovely view of Pretoria.

Went for a 9km hike (there are 4km hike/walk and 9km walk/hike or 9km trail run routes), routes are well maintained and well indicated, lots of bird life and animals (zebras, Buffalo, Impala etc) a great 2 hours spent on nature, there is a guy selling filter coffee at the beginning (and end, which is the same place) of the routes, well worth supporting the 'project klappies' which is the group that maintains the trails.

The Klapperkop Nature Reserve is one of my all-time favorite spots.It has spectacular panoramic views of Pretoria in all directions and is often filled with folks cycling, jogging and mountain biking.It has a number of viewpoints with benches for you to unwind or clear you mind. Although safety has become a big concern overs years, the area is patrolled by police on a regular throughout the day.You're also guaranteed a free game drive depending on time of day. It is definitely worth a visit, but be vigilant especially when alone.Include it as part of your sightseeing itinerary when in the area. It offers the most amazing sunrises, sunsets and moon-views in Pretoria.

Nice! I always feel safe but one should always be cautious. Seems like they are giving more attention to security these days. Take your camera with as you usually see the Blouwildebeest and Zebras from obe of the lookout points.

My favorite place. There are some zebras, so I often go there to see them. It's located on the hill, and it looks out over the city of Pretoria from the top.

Its a beautiful place. Great view of Pretoria and you get to see some cool animals like Zebras and its amazing to take pictures and the sunset is breathtaking. But the rumours of muggings and roberries made me and partner skeptical of returning there.

Its a nice place but you are very luck if you get to see any of the animals in the park.I drive 2 hours stoping and searching for any animals.Did find few birdsAnd just as the resort closed the zebras appeared. I could photograph them from outside the fence.Will try again early morning when its a bit warmer
