Otter's Creek

We had such a lovely stay at Otter’s Creek. The house has everything you’ll need and it was incredibly clean. The garden is a magical forest of beautiful trees and flowers, with lots of incredible birds eating from the bird feeders. There is a wonderful braai, great patio halfway down to the river which makes for a wonderful place to relax and eat. The jetty itself is a good size and two kayaks offer you easy freedom to paddle up and down the river. It’s possibly not the best place for a child as there isn’t much of a garden to play in (although there is lots to explore) and an elderly couple might struggle on the steps down the the jetty (you don’t necessarily have to go down to the jetty to enjoy your stay). The Bonnievale Camping Lodge isn’t too far off and this resulted in some noise but it was the end of the year. There is a working farm across the river so tractors are busy and the house is on the main road which means you do hear cars but it’s not a show stopper by any means. A trip to the Spar or bottle store is just a few minutes down the road which is convenient but the house is far enough from the town to not feel like you’re living in a town. For the cost of the place and what you get, it’s well worth it and I’d recommend a trip! Debbie, the host, is readily available on WhatsApp and nothing was too much for her! For the fishermen, unfortunately we didn’t catch anything but rising carp were visible in the late afternoons; there is also a place called the Outdoor Arena, a few minutes down the road, where you can fish with success. We also enjoyed trips to Swellendam, Malgas, Montague, Struisbaai and other wonderful towns within about an hours drive.

In my honest opinion Otters Creek is a very nice peace full place for any family getaway. The house is situated on the river bed and perfect for relaxing and quiet time. There is everything you needs in a holiday home, it has a very nice view of the river and taste of nature right on your doorstep. It's a place where you certainly want to get back too, at least I would. The sound of birds chirping in the morning and all day it praising. So if you a lover for peace and rest Otters Creek is the place to go from me a very big 100% The house is clean and tidy and a lovely big space to move around.

Lovely holiday home on the Breede River just a few minutes away from Bonnievale.The large deck is only meters from the water and lets you enjoy the river and bird life in comfort. The floating jetty will get you right to the water's edge for fishing or swimming. Two kayaks are available.Large house with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, guest toilet, fully fitted kitchen and a pantry with dishwasher and washing machine. The patio has an 8-seater dining table and overlooks the river. Lovely peaceful setting.

We had such a wonderful time at Otter's Creek, the house had everything you need and the river was delightful! The Kayaks were definitely a plus as we got to explore the river and the morning and sunset views were breathtaking! Debbie & Tony were also so helpful with any questions we had! I would go back in a heartbeat!
