Mama Alles

Mama Alles products are my go-to meals when doing any multi-day hikes. Pack weight is always the biggest factor when walking for days on end, so having light weight dehydrated food that's ready within a couple minutes is the biggest win. They are also cost efficient, thoughtfully packaged, tasty and super hearty - so I strongly recommend their range of products if you're planning any trips/keeping meals hassle free on a weekend away.

I love the Mama Alles meals. They taste like they are made from good quality, fresh ingredients and rehydrate as if the meal was cooked from scratch right there. The portion size for a couple is slightly small but a starter of some salami rounded the meals off well. We had great success cooking these meals using the haybox method where one adds boiling water and then places a sealed container into a sleeping bags for 15 minutes to cook.

Mama Alles is my go to for hiking meals. The meals are very delicious and hearty and have a good portion size. Would definitely recommend them for any trips where you need nutritions meals that are lightweight as well.

The best! We absolutely loved the ease of preparing such tasty food. We were able to set up camp and have a delicious warm meal in a couple of minutes. It was really the best way to warm up and fill our tummies after a long day. Cannot get over the smells and flavours of these meals! The bags are also great to reuse for snacks later on.

I recently completed a 6-day hike in the Drakensberg, which summited 5 of SA’s highest peaks. The dinners on this trip were entirely supplied by Mama Alles, as well as most of the breakfasts and lunches. After many previous overnight hiking trips, I can safely say that these Mama Alles food packs are the most convenient and weight-efficient way to prepare delicious, nutritious and filling meals. The Central African Stew was my absolute favourite dinner. The different flavours of dehydrated hummus for lunches were also surprisingly good. Looking forward to many future hikes made simpler and tastier by Mama Alles!

As someone who's done her fair share of overnight hiking, I've always struggled with figuring out what to eat for suppers. Finding something that only takes one pot, cooks quickly, is lightweight but full of nutrients, and is easy to clean up afterwards has been a bit of a struggle, but I've found the answer in these Mama Alles meals! Very straightforward to cook, and ensures you're getting your vegetables no matter how far into your hike you are. I've never come close to eating so well on a hike in my life! And for the cherry on top, it's a local small business.

Having done many multi day hikes I am always looking for the lightest, most delicious, compact and nutrient dense foods to pack. Mama Alles is all of these! I was blown away by the meals we tried. The Central African Stew was my favorite and the hummus perfects a lunch of cheese and crackers.Being caught in rainy weather, the quick cook time saved me from getting wet. I'm a big fan of Mama Alles. The first thing that attracted me was that all the meals are made right in Cape Town, using local and organic ingredients as much a possible. The second is that they are SUPER convenient. After a long day hiking who want's to get to camp and have to think about what to throw together. With Mama A you simply throw it in the pot and watch it become a delicious, hearty, warm meal. I LOVE the Jolof rice and Mushroom Risotto the most and never hike without them. From the Drakensberg to the West Coast and even Fish river, they go with me everywhere.

We had her hummus and three fantastic hot meals - Central African stew, Ethiopian Dahl and jolof rice.These meals were the highlight of each day and added a real culinary richness to our 6-day hike in the Drakensberg. On the rainy days when we were days away from civilization, it was a great source of motivation knowing that there was a luxurious hot meal just around the corner.I will be treating myself to Mama Alles on all of my multi-day hikes from now on!
