Really beautiful place along the Midlands Meander. The owner was very pleasant and welcoming. Unfortunately they were experiencing load shedding when we got there, but they still accommodated us. We tried the brandy peaches waffle with whipped cream. I wasn't such a fan of the filling, I think brandy peaches are just not my thing. But I enjoyed the pancake itself.

As a family visit, we decided to go out for lunch.On arrival owners did a greet and sat us down. However, as time progressed we were neglected and bias was shown by service to other regular customers. And needed to draw attenting to a part time staff waiter that then finally saw to us for drinks and taking down food order.As we waited patiently for food one of the owners came to inform us our food was almost ready which was fantastic to inform us. However more time flew away as we waited then when trying to addressing the other owner we were given a rude response, although yes we are aware of loadshedding there is still abit of confusion why we spent over 2 hours time mainly waiting for food at a restaurant. In my experience (also being a chef with overseas experience) the dissatisfaction and disappointment was in the treatment we recieved from the owners themselves.Food was good and well tasted. But service brought the atmosphere down and overall experience to be a potential restaurant to be wasted.Will not be going back.

Wonderful warm cost fire, awesome conversations and the food was delicious. A real nice treat took a chance and did to book. Table available and it was right by the fire. Thank for a great vibe. See u soon.

Rude, inconsiderate owners and long waiting time to receive our order.For a rainy Sunday in the Midlands at 12.20 it was a fairly popular bistro. Most patrons looked to be regulars and many were retirees, perhaps that's why they got special treatment. After getting the waitrons attention we were able to order drinks and food by 12.40-12.45. Load shedding started at 1pm but I imagine most meats and veg can be warmed up on stove top. 45min waiting we called the lady owner and she rudely told us to understand it is load shedding". No apology or sympathy and we had to track her down! By 60min wait

We arrived just past lunchtime and waited a few minutes for our drink orders to be taken. Once we received our drinks, we placed our food order and waited AN HOUR before we received our food. Before receiving it, we politely queried what was taking so long and the owner rudely responded, understand that we are loadshedding." We had placed our order 30min prior to loadshedding and we were not updated at all about our order. It was HUGELY disappointing receiving such bad service from a place where one would expect decent service."

A beautiful setting. The pancakes are excellent and service just as good.It was busy Sunday lunchtime and lots of happy customers who spent a long afternoon enjoying themselves.

We arrived for lunch today. After seeing all the good reviews, I was impressed and thought about trying out The Bistro. The owners were rude and didn’t even come near our table. Luckily we were able to get the attention of the pleasant young girl to take our drinks. Shortly after that we ordered our food. We waited a good hour for our food and we were told rudely by the owner to “be understanding as they have loadshedding”. The food arrived at all different times, the Yorkshire pudding I had was still ice cold in the middle. The rest of the food was pleasant but the whole atmosphere was ruined by the rudeness of the owners. A restaurant that is so popular surely a generator would be a good investment to avoid the “panic” the kitchen may have experienced. I would like to suggest possibly being more accommodating to younger guests and especially we were a table of 6. Treat customers waiting an hour for their food with respect or close before loadshedding if you cannot handle to run your restaurant during loadshedding times.

Good food in a lovely setting. They have savoury and sweet pancakes available. Sweet pancakes come with either cream or ice cream and the food can be enjoyed outside in a lovely country setting. Definitely worth a visit if you are out meandering.
