Material Girl
I've always had positive visits to the store and could not complain about any products, but had my sewing machine and overlocker serviced by them in the beginning of December. Both were returned dripping with oil. The first garments I sewed were soiled and ruined. I had to sit down and clean both machines intensely before I could continue.

I love going there. Friendly personal service. Wide veriaty of lovely fabrics at very good prices. Owners are always helpful in giving information on what to use the fabric for and how much to buy.

The owners of Material Girl really go the extra mile: incredibly valuable advice, affordable sewing lessons, sewing machine servicing, a good variety of zips, buttons, sewing machine feet, rotary cutters, patterns, pattern making paper, as well as useful affordable fabrics. I often go there for fabric offcuts or if I want to buy something with a special, pretty pattern. I see new fabrics in the shop regularly, making it exciting to pop in every once in a while to see what's new. Also really accessible in the centre of Durbanville with free parking.

Had my sewing beginner lessons with Gill. I learnt so much over 6 lessons. She is very patient, goes the extra mile and loves what she does. Material girl also offers technical lessons on using different foots/tools. They have beautiful high quality fabrics and competitive on price. I also bought a second hand overlock from them at a good price.

What a lovely range of fabric they have for making your own garments! They also have all the required notions for the completion of sewing projects. Friendly knowledgeable advice is offered too.
