Bellwood Cottages & Wedding Venue

This is one of our best family get aways. So conveniently located to Durban just over and hrs drive and you are settled into vistas and quiet. Highly recommended get away.

Great cottages at extremely low prices. The owners were very accommodating. We were upgraded from a 6 sleeper to a dam side 14 sleeper as it was not busy. There were only 5 of us. It is well worth staying here if you're in the area for a wedding or even a holiday or golf trip - they have a small floating green in the dam. Who has one of those??? Lovely place in the country.

We recently had such a wonderful & memorable stay at Bellwood!! Such a picturesque venue all year round. With so much to do for both the young and old... This is where special lifelong memories are made. Comfortable & Clean! We can't wait to go back...

We had a great Christmas holiday at Bellwood Cottages. There were tons of things for the kids to do. They very much enjoyed the dam and the kids park with the wonderful playhouse. They also liked the animals and there were also many things to do in the surrounding areas. The accommodations were great. They were very spacious, clean and the kitchen was very well equipped. It is very well setup for large families or multi family vacations.

Beautiful, picturesque country setting with lovely self catering cottages. The only downside was the wooden flooring upstairs which is very noisy if you have to make a bathroom trip during the night, which wakes everyone.

A wonderful home away from home, beautiful, scenic and most importantly peaceful place to be. Friendly and helpful staff and owners who genuinely care and take care of the place. Thank you bellwood

Sadly due to the logistics ( we live near Bloem!) my fiancé and I did not end up choosing this venue for our wedding, however I would like to express how touched we were with the kindness and hospitality we were greeted with from being in contact on mail through to viewing this venue last year. It was one of the best venues we have viewed and we searched from the Free State to PMB side!There was a wedding being set up at the time of our viewing & they didn’t mind us looking at all, we even took some pics for inspiration!Will recommend to friends!! 5 stars!

We spent a lovely Christmas at Bellwood with our 3 kids and my brother and his family. We were in the Kingfisher cabin. It was impeccably clean and well fitted out. The BBQ facilities are great which made cooking for the large group a breeze. We slept so well as it was so quiet at night. Being right on the dam the kids mucked about in and on the water swimming and making use of the row boats provided. Being from the USA the kids were thrilled to see monkeys on our walks around the farm. We walked up to the forest chapel where weddings are held. What a magical place for a wedding! The surrounding area is full of artisans, restaurants, shopping and activities for kids. We will be back for sure!

It all started with our appointment to see the place being double booked. Not a concern as we were happy to show ourselves around. However it was still a bit off putting. The forest and accommodation was exactly what we were looking for. We came back later in the day to sit and chat with Jeanine. We gave her the date and it was available. We went through everything we required and told her exactly how we had planned the day. She took notes and gave us assurances every step of the way they could accommodate our every need. We left there in high spirits and hearts that were full. Fast forward to Monday when my fiancé got a message that the date was actually already booked. It didn’t sound right and then came the truth. They were not willing to accommodate our small wedding because it wouldn’t generate enough income for them. A few sentences were said that confirmed that they aren’t there to serve any couple. They are only there to serve bigger weddings. Why not just tell us up front rather than agreeing to everything in person and then retracting it all in messages. She said she would phone me back and no surprise she didn’t. After this, our view on the whole establishment and how it is run has been completely soured.

We spent an awesome 4 nights at Bellwood Cottages. Jeannine and Alfie were perfect hosts. Wonderfully appointed unit with everything you need; a Home from home. Beautiful dams and lovely to take non-challenging evening strolls around the farm. Also very well positioned to explore the Midlands with just about everything on your doorstep, but lovely and quiet. We'll be back...
