I had a haircut with Joe and I had shown him reference pictures. He didn't ask many questions to see if there were specific details I wanted. He took a glance and began cutting. I told him I wanted volume and casacading layers but he thinned out my hair so much and made it look choppy. I was a bit shocked when he wouldn't stop cutting my hair and thinning it out more and more. But I felt like I should trust his experience and not say anything. When I first left the salon after he dried my hair I thought it would be okay and that my hair may stay just as straight and the thinness wouldn't look that bad. I had been excited to get rid of my split ends. Days and weeks and months after that it looked like I had a really heavy top layer from the back and very thin longer strands while the top of my head didn't carry any volume. It wasn't flattering and my friends even pointed out to ask what happened to my hair. I felt conflicted to leave this review as it's been a good few months but I just don't think joe is as good at cutting Asian hair as he is with other textures. I had seen many good reviews about this salon but spent 94 dollars for a disappointing haircut.

Joe is an amazing hair artist with great precision and technique in cutting. He patiently listens to my hair needs and what I am wanting and tailors a style perfectly suited to my curly, thick hair. Not to mention he is a perfectionist so you can rest assured knowing you are in more than capable hands. The salon itself has a cool fit out and relaxed ambiance. It uses luxurious and beautifully fragrant products that have left my hair soft and smelling delicious. I am thankful to have found this place and am thrilled with the experience and results. Would highly recommend you give this salon a try!

Stanley & Co Hair Salon is the same for Chippendale as what White Rabbit is for Chippendale - it makes it! I feel so lucky to have found this place and live so close. Joe and Tara and the team are amazing people and hair dressers - great stylists and cutters - I've never once been disappointed. They are super professional, helpful and friendly. It is a good day when you get your hair done at Stanley & Co, I couldn't recommend them highly enough - and I do!

I was sick of paying almost the same amount of money for mediocre haircuts at salons local to me (near Parramatta) so I booked in with Tara as I was staying at a hotel nearby for my work Christmas party. She was a genius with my wavy, boofy hair and knew exactly how to thin it out and layer without making it look like I have a mullet! It still looked good after I washed it, which is always the true test. I'll definitely be back, well worth the trip from the west and easy to get to from Redfern station (with the help of Google maps!).

What a wonderful experience! I felt Joe was working my hair with such intention and care! I really appreciated the fact that he never tried selling any additional treatments or services and understood immediately what I was looking for. Never felt so happy coming out of a hairdresser! Highly recommended!

I first got a haircut from Tara maybe 15 years ago and have followed her everywhere she goes since then. Not in a “Every breath you take’ by artists ‘the police’ sense, but rather in the sense that I get my haircut by her and I look really good every time. Like… really good. I can’t speak for the other fellow but he seems good too.

Best hairdressers (and people!) I've ever gone to. Nothing but the best, every time I go there. The cherry on top is that Tara and Joe are absolutely lovely people and create a beautiful environment that makes you sad to leave! Couldn't recommend them more highly.
