This is a actual hidden gem located in the ancient red hills of the Karoo. View wild animals from the deck while sipping on a cold beverage. Fabulous accommodation. Neat and well furnished and fantastic hosts.

BE AWARE OF THE NEW OWNERThe owner of this lodge changed. Very unprofessional. You are offered menu lists for beakfast and dinner but no prices are communicated for your selection. Also no price informations about the drinks. You will receive the invoice at the end of your stay without any confirmation (by signature, etc.). We argued about the invoice, because we missed the price lists and signatures of the orders and then got threaten by the police (the owner wanted the police to catch us at the airport - unbelivable).The accomodation is difficult to reach. There are more comfortable ccomodations around which offer more Africa feeling and possibilities. Please be aware to have a SUV, otherwise it will be difficult to reach.There are only few animals on the area. But be aware of snakes, scorpions and spiders.Not the money worth it.

Stop looking further and book the Zwartberg Mountain View Lodge, it is magnificent! We stayed for two nights with our four children (9-14 yrs) and absolutely loved the lodge, the view, the animals on the grounds, the pool, the braai dinners and the walking trail. Varley and Hannalize are fantastic and helpful hosts and we very much enjoyed talking to them about life in SA as well as the many great sites in the area. We could easily have stayed another night or two. A highlight on our trip. Easy accessible with any car. Hope that we will visit again one day!

Great place to relax. Very welcoming hosts, food excellent. Enjoy a drink at the bar, sit and watch the animals,walk around the farm or take a dip in the pool

We had a very nice stay at this accomodation for one night. Right after our South Africa trip I realized that we payed it twice, once at the Lodge and as well at the booking via safarinow.com. I asked to get the money back three times but couldn't get any reply to mail or call.Update: After Lockdown due to Covid-19 and change of the owner we received an excellent service. The problem with the payment via safarinow has been solved. The next time at this beautiful and very kind accomodation will be with a direct booking.

There has unfortunately been a change of ownership here and the new owner is very calculating and tries to make a lot of turnover with you. I found that very unfortunate. Also the accommodations are run down and old. On top of that the way/trail to get there is also arduous. Too bad!

It’s a beautiful place with a lot of wildlife around. The owners are so friendly and helpful! The food is amazing! Clean and amazing place to stay

Lovely and quiet.In the morning when you open the curtains, do not be surprised to find the springbucks grazing in front if your chalet.All through the day we were able to see the giraffe on the koppie.The kids loved going to the restaurant around 5o'clock in the afternoons when the animals are fed.The hiking trails are quiet and clearly marked.Food are out of this world! Beautifully plated, rich taste and more than enough to fill your tummy.The hosts are friendly and extremely helpful.

Amazing owner's, great view of the mountains, very nice to see the animals directly and the dinners are perfect!!
