Queued for 11 hours to be told at 16:01 after having photos and fingerprints done, My staff don't work overtime

If there is loadshedding scheduled do not expect to be served during that time as the system is down the entire time and takes 45 minutes to come back online AFTER the power comes back on. And, of course, people are only informed of this at 8am after having waited for hours already.I would strongly advise arriving at latest 6am right now if you want to be served for collections. Applications without an appointment is another story entirely - on days where there is a backlog of application appointments from the previous day(s) due to loadshedding they sometimes do not take even a single walk-in.I understand that as a staff member dealing with frustrated people on a daily basis can be a difficult job, but surely management at this branch could come up with some sort of contingency plan to account for loadshedding.

Excellent service at Wynberg Home Affairs. Got there at 7.45am, out before 9am. While waiting for the doors to open at 8am (promptly) there was an extremely helpful gentleman telling people what to do once they were inside. The staff were efficient, friendly and constantly multitasking in order to move things along.

This Branch is pathetic and the staff are extremely rude, they have no way of addressing people; when a question is posed to seek understanding. I queued from after 5am only for us all to be told at 10am to return at 14h00 due to loadshedding. Returned at 14h00, the systems were offline and by 15h30 the doors closed and we were told to return on another day. I returned the next day and despite having a no for the previous day, I spent another day there without being assisted due to the system being down. 2 wasted days and effort after travelling a distance and still no passport application submitted. Im going to attempt another branch where I may possibly be treated like an adult and a respectful human.

Most awful experience: long queues (stood for 5 hours and nearly feinted), phones only ring, systems down, only one person working with 200 people in the queue, 7 visits to renew a passport and I dread having to do this again! What a waste of time and such an embarrassment for our beloved country!

I think I got super lucky today. I had my ID & passport done at Grabouw Home Affairs and then booked collection at Wynberg. I called to check if I needed an appointment to collect but despite multiple attempts there was no answer (this can be improved) so I decided just to go and collect without an appointment.The Collection Centre is separate from the processing center: It's on Level 3 in Maynard Mall. I went at 14:30 on a Thursday and it was dead quiet. 2 other people while I was there. In and out in 5 minutes! Fantastic collection experience. From other reviews it seems you may have to wait sometimes though.

What an efficient Home Affairs dept....runs like clockwork, IF you take the time to first make an appointment for your passport or whatever..What a breath of fresh air to the Management team..these people are on the floor overseeing that everything moves swiftly and all the people are attended to promptly..Compliments to this team..each and every member plays their part, quickly and efficiently...

Been trying to get through to Wynberg offices since Friday.Phone Ringing at 40mins each time I tried calling and eventually hung up.Today I called at exactly 8am. Eventually hung up at 1hr10 mins.This is after it already picked up and said welcome to home affairs Wynberg.it's a total nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly, it wasn't that bad.I went to collect my passport and ID card at around 11:30am and it took a total of 1.5 hours.The fact that the applications and collections department are separate from eachother is a huge help.Tip: I booked my application appointment at home affairs in somerset west (as it's impossible to book an appointment at Home Affairs Wynberg)I arrived at my scheduled appointment and it took a total of 1 hour to apply for both my ID and Passport.They then made sure that my passport and ID were sent to Wynberg for collection.

In the hopes of helping someone else:Collections from this home affairs during high stages of loadshedding is barely functional. If you are in the collections queue and you are not inside the offices by 3pm you will probably not be served. They let in about 10 people every 30 minutes and seemingly nobody after 3pm (if there is a long queue).If you are still there at 3.30 they will just close the doors and not come tell you anything, but if there are enough of you waiting at the main collections door then by 4pm maybe someone will come out and take down names in batches to be prioritised on other days. MAYBE.Good luck
