It was a pleasure staying here. Very clean and well taken care of. Had everything provided for a great stay. The views were stunning and the pool amazing. Would highly recommend.

Big Sky Cottages is a great place to unwind for the weekend. The view from the balcony is stunning, the cottage has all the amenities you can possibly need, check in, and check out was a breeze and the bed was super comfy.There are 2 main drawbacks however, which costs it 1 star, specifically given the price, which is on the high side: 1) One can clearly hear the traffic/cars from the main road, which can be a bit disturbing (not serious though) and 2) The claimed soundproofing is not very effective, as I could clearly hear my neighbours'" music and muffled conversation. The views from the cottages are amazing. Self catered,little kitchen with everything you need. They offer a great selection of local products. The cottages a very modern with rustic accents like the washroom/shower.The pool area offers ample sunbathing open space as well as a covered area where you can escape the hot African sun, if you feel you need to.Local satellite television and wifi is available.

Beautiful view over the valley; neat and well designed cottages. Lovely attention to detail. Kitchen well equipped. Pool was a winner!Just a bit noisy at night from a nearby factory/farm.Would definitely recommend this place for something slightly different!

Stunning views! A great place for the whole family to relax and regroup. Loved the pool and hiking!

Lovely place perched half way up the mountain with a stunning view of the mountains, valley and stream. The cottage was well equipped to make our stay very comfortable and enjoyable. Although we only had to deal with this for 1 out of the 3 nights that we had booked; the walls dividing the units are very thin and we could hear our neighbours' foot steps and some of their conversations. The cottages are not sound proof. Shower floor was very slippery once it got wet and soapy. This may seem like an odd comment but the floor surface is a bit too smooth. I almost fell and would have hit my head against the metal tap in the shower. None of this detracts from the awesome experience I had at Big Sky Cottages. It truly is a beautiful place.

There are 5 pairs of self catering modern cottages, making 10 in total. There is no restaurant on-site but a few are available not too far away by car. I took an overseas visitor to stay at Big Sky Cottages. We had two cottages with the option of an inter-leading balcony door which would be ideal for larger groups.The cottage has just about every amenity one could need.Load shedding was at it's peak during our stay. The owners have a very long lasting, bright rechargeable LED self standing torch to illuminate a large area very well, a portable gas stove and an outdoor old fashion fuel lantern nexto the barbecue. I found these to be extremely useful and thoughtful of the owners.The cottage is more like a suite with a double bedroom and an open plan lounge to kitchenette area. The bathroom boasts a walk-in shower, basin and amenities. There are two doors to the toilet. One leads to the bedroom and another to the lounge. Great for when having guests.There is a bar type counter separating the food prep area from the lounge where one can sit and eat.The kitchen has a full size fridge, a 20L microwave and a convection plate. All the necessary for cooking, eating and cleaning is neatly within reach.Local products from olive oil, cosmetics, and tea to playing cards and toothpaste & brush are available to purchase in your cottage.In the lounge furnishings are of high quality with comfortable seating for up to four. (2-3 seater couch and a 1- seater armchair. A solid wood coffee table in the centre.Against the wall is a flat screen T.V. with the full DSTV package and clear sound. An heating and cooling aircon is in this area and is powerful enough to service the adjoining bedroom as well.The bedroom is well appointed with good bedding and a snuggle blanket. Both sides of the bed have a side table with a focus lamp for reading without disturbing a sleeping partner. They also have a general side table light for a warm glow when the main ceiling light is off. Both the bedroom and the lounge have the option of a ceiling light and large fan with 3 speeds and off.The bedroom also has a wardrobe big enough for a few clothes & two stands for your luggage. Full lenght mirrors and a hair dryer are there for your convenience.The varnished wooden flooring lends a rustic warmth throughout with carpet mats at pertinent places.Outdoors at each cottage they have a proper built in barbecue, wood and fire starters at R25 with unlimited resupply. Alongside is a tiled food prep/buffet area.Two strong ceiling lights focus on the fire area for accurate cooking. When food is served at the lovely round table for outdoor eating, the lights can be turned off and enjoy a glass wind-sheltered candle for intimate atmosphere.The major, MAJOR highlight is the most magnificent views! Both the bedroom and the lounge have wall to ceiling glass. Large sliding doors open up to give one the outdoor experience while sitting in comfort.The ample wooden balcony is wrap-around on two sides leading to a sun sheltered place to park your vehicle.A short walk from the cottages is the communal for residents only swimming pool, complete with a fridge for storing your sandwiches and snacks in the large undercover shelter when the sun is at its peak, cushioned pool loungers and pool noodles and games for both young and adults to enjoy.The toilets are also used as changing rooms. Everything is clean, neat and furnished with a sky high view of the surrounding villages and farmlands.Such a lovely place had me returning less than a week later!Negative: The only area for criticism is the thin wall between my lounge and the adjoining cottage lounge. Even normal conversing can be heard from next door. They have a quiet policy from 10pm to help this.Positives: There are plenty of electricity points within the cottage for charging devices and even outside at the eating area.Thoughtfulness for guests is obvious throughout and a peaceful, relaxing weekend or holiday is the feeling behind the design of Big Sky Cottages.

The location was lovely and the cottages (and views) are absolutely beautiful.However, i would strongly caution that if you are looking for a quiet place to get away, this may not be the right place. The cottages are right next to one another (without any sound-proofing) and therefore you can very clearly hear your neighbors next door (watching tv, talking, shouting etc). We were unfortunate enough to have extremely loud neighbors who blasted their speakers loudly throughout the day and in the evening and we were unable to sleep to the point where we almost left in the middle of the night due to the intolerable noise level. Ultimately, it really comes down to whether you are lucky enough to have considerate and quiet neighbors or not and unfortunately we did not, which really ruined the experience for us.

Everything was perfect!! The check-in process was seamless! The accomodation was clean and modern with spectacular views. I loved the little corner with all the local products with the honesty jar. My birthday weekend was made even more special with a birthday card and bottle of wine from the owners. I'll definitely be going back!

We really enjoyed our stay. Everything is tastefully presented and it is definitely a great escape for a family with kids. The views are breathtaking, the outdoor areas are very inviting, and it was an easy experience from booking to checking out. Not one thing was overlooked. Highly recommended.
