Berg River Resort

Terrible terrible!If you want to day camp, good luck! If you do, the Friendly/racist staff" suggests we start queueing at 5am like "my other people".Yes they open at 8am but apparently they fill up quickly... Or so we've been told.*RIGHT OF ADMISSION RESERVED SENIOR MANAGEMENT MAY STRICTLY LIMIT THE NUMBER OF DAY VISITORS AND ARE NOT OBLIGED TO OFFER REASONS FOR THEIR DECISIONS. STAFF DECISIONS ARE FINAL. *If you read the above it basically says they will let in who they want without reason. But we all know what the reasons are living in SA.Read between the lines. I heard it's an amazing place... Couldn't get past the front gate but apparently it's nice.Get there early to avoid being told you cannot enter because they are full

Great camping spot nestled between trees and the Berg river.Ablutions are in a good condition and kept very clean.The No music rule makes for a very peaceful evening too.

The Berg River resort was a once off visit for us. We paid R5800.00 for 3 nights for 3 people. Definitely not worth it. We had to ensure the kitchen was clean of dishes when we left otherwise they deduct R100 from the deposit. The days were lovely because the berg river and surrounds is beautiful. The staff gets zero for reception and friendliness. White and prejudiced. We were in Chalet no 7. There is a difference between rustic and old. This unit was very old. The bathroom was not at all clean. The toilet seat was scratched and dirty and loose, so we shifted all the time we were on the loo. the shower and basin were unclean. Nowhere to put our toiletries, walls and door were very dirty (needs a paint). The bedroom and lounge (uncomfortable)very basic, couldn't open the windows, stiff with dirt. The fridge had missing trays in the door. Dishcloths looked unwashed, they never heard of bleach. With loadshedding every night between 8 to 10 pm, no portable lights were in the unit, only 1 solitary cheap candle. The pool was filthy around the edges. With big day crowds, they should be cleaning outside toilets all the time. We had to bring our own towels, thank goodness !!!Zaitoon Abed

Amazing place to be at. Not a long drive to enjoy the nature and peacefulness of the resort. So much to enjoy and your kids will never get bored. A well kept place with clean toilets and showers. We camped with our tents. Amazing

Lovely views of the river, quiet and pleasant environment. Huge pool with a 3.5m deep side. Nice for diving in. Really enjoyed the pool. Putt putt and a water slide. The day visitors should not have to pay for every single activity. Especially when you are a group. It becomes costly

We had a wonderful time, perfect to relax after a busy year. Staff were exceptionally warm and friendly, accommodation and facilities were super clean and well maintained.Friendly lifeguards at the pool for added peace of mind.Swimming in the river definitely a highlight.Long, lazy afternoons were spent lying by the river, on the lush grass, under huge trees.Can't wait to go back ✨️

The resort on a whole is lovely, but I would recommend the staff pay a bot more attention to cleaning the chalets.My rooms windowsill was filthy, with pile of dead ants on it, and the bathroom wasn't in the cleanest condition.Kitchen cabinet handles were also dirty.

We were there in March for a weekend. The chalets were clean and neat. Very enjoyable time we had. They can really update the TV channels. That wasn't up to scratch for the kids.

Very nice place, the river and being surrounded by trees. Clean toilets and hot showers. A place i would've loved to go back, but being told to talk softer by security, for most part of the weekend, was a bummer. Our group felt targeted by security therefore this place will be a no go for us. Perfect place to go to if you want a no music and no talking vacation.
