I had the most horrific experience with this dentist a few months ago. He started looking at a cavity without any anesthetic (I've never had a problem with going to a dentist, no fear or phobias) and used a sharper instrument to prod at the gum cavity which caused me to be absolutely overwhelmed with pain. I was then administered anesthetic and cannot be sure of the extent of trauma caused to my tooth and gum after that my and but gum never hugged the tooth tight again like it did, and should. I had days where the tooth ached out of nowhere, the tooth was built up so high it offset my entire bite, and most of all I was left with so much trauma I was terrified to set foot in any dentists room again. I lost this tooth 3 days ago due to infection that had entered through the gum and am almost certain that if this dentist had told me the only thing that could save my tooth back then was a root canal instead of using my small dental allocation from my medical cover to 'patch up' this tooth, I wouldn't have been made to endure this amount of trauma extending from the unprofessional job this dentist did on my tooth (from allowing another patient in the room to look at that patients x-ray while I was sitting in the dentists chair in that room waiting for the anaesthetic to work, still trying to gather myself after the horrific pain and trauma of having an instrument inserted into an unanesthetized cavity, to having two pieces of equipment dropped onto my face while this dentist was working on this tooth) to finally having to have this tooth extracted because the infection that had entered the 'fixed' tooth and gum was so severe the tooth was deemed unsavable (by a dentist who could have easily told me a root canal might save it but is good and honest and wasn't just looking for money or trying to 'patch up' a problem in the time being, creating a bigger problem down the line) and consider myself lucky that I went to a reputable dentist when I did and that the infection was caught at that point. I would never ever so much as set foot in Dr G J De Ridder's room again. Beyond traumatized. Appalling conduct.
