Electronics student and software engineer here, who's done research on laptop repair work. Called them and asked some simple questions about what tools they use and the technician couldn't tell me a single tool name, let alone how they would remove a small IC. I did this since the last place I took my expensive laptop to botched a simple job and fried something on the motherboard rendering the entire laptop useless. The technician I spoke to tried to avoid answering the questions saying it's not something they speak about with clients and he couldn't give a reason for why.
